Dental advice

Seeking dental advice on behalf of DM
She is 70
Has good teeth but had a gap at the side for years where a tooth just didn't erupt
In the 1980s she had two teeth crowned and a bridge in the middle to cover the gap
It is now becoming loose and her dentist has said when it eventually falls out she will have to have a denture on partial plate or implants which will cost approx£8500.
She is a bit upset because her old dentist alway said we will just recement bridge if it ever falls out or make you a new one.
New (current) dentist says no 80s crowns destroyed too much tooth so wont be able to refit or make a new bridge.
To be honest we don't know enough about it and she is a bit worried she is being conned into the implants .
Anyone any experience or any dentists who could advise.
I believe her teeth are generally in good shape and she is fit as flea.

I had this situation with my bridge. They're only supposed to last about 7 years I think. Mine lasted about 20 years. It was going to give way quite soon so the dentist removed it and the supporting teeth. I have a partial denture. It cost approx £250. It is NHS so not the best you can get but for the side of your mouth and if you are older I think it is good enough. I am late 60's I am happy with mine. If it was in the front of my mouth I think I would go for something more expensive. It is perfectly comfortable and I sometimes forget to put it back in at the dentist's as I am equally comfortable with or without it and can eat ok as well.

Thanks Samantha.
Maybe we should try a second opinion and get more advice.

Tbh it sounds right but seek a second opinion for your peace of mind.
