Cheap plug in heater?

Can anyone recommend a plug in heater that won't cost an arm and a leg to run? DP is WFH and keeps putting the heating on while the rest of us are out all day snd it seems pretty wasteful.

Are those oil filled ones not supposed to be quite good?

I'll investigate them. We used to have one but haven't needed anything like this for years and I feel that technology may have moved on.

Screwfix have good, reasonably priced oil-filled radiators, we have one in each of our offices nowwe're WFH. Better than heaters that blow hot air, as they're silent.

Thank you! I'll take look. Do they costs lot too run? I'm assuming it's cheaper to run that having the heating on throughout.

I got one from Dunelm, reasonably priced. I did some research on running costs and they do come up pretty cheap, and they keep the room warm really well. Mine has a thermostat on and I only have it on the lowest of the 3 settings so far (I'm in Scotland too)

It does stop me needing the heating on during the day.

I got my oil filled one from the middle Lidl aisle and it's fab!

I think to get the running costs you need to mulitply the kw by the cost of your electricity (per kwh.) My mother bought one, convinced it was cheap, but it worked out at about 30p per hour so wasn't that economical.

Yes, I have memories from childhood of an electric heater that we were all terrified to use as my mum kept saying how expensive it was. I've avoided them ever since!

A 2000 kwh heater will cost 2 units per hour it's running.
A 1000 kwh heater will cost 1 unit per hr it's running.

You need to know what you pay per unit which should be on your bill.
