Hoping for some help as it's my first time going through the application process for primary schools AND I'm deciding on schools in an area we're just moving into so don't have previous knowledge/ parents to ask.
Schools are now cancelling visits and tours, understandably, so are either offering virtual tours or chats with staff. So I'd love some input on how to get a sense of the school from these kind of interactions.
Is it worth going and standing outside a school at school drop off/ pick up time? Just to get a feel for the school community, parent/ staff interaction? Or will this be completely different with social distancing measures in place?
What kind of questions is it worth asking to staff to get past the 'sales pitch' talk? eg what opportunities are there for parents to get involved in the school? how does the school promote a positive and supportive atmosphere for the pupils? how do they promote/ celebrate diversity? what secondary schools do children go on to?
Any suggestions would be really welcome!
