referred to neighbourhood policing team

I was wondering if anyone who has been referred to one of these teams, or any police officers, might be able to help me orient myself.

We have, unfortunately, had a series of distressing and frightening incidents with a particular neighbour over the years. This summer he came and threw and broke some items. For the first time ever, we called the police.

We got an email saying "I understand this matter has now been allocated to the neighbourhood policing team to investigate further due to the ongoing nature."

is this a sign that the police are taking us seriously in our concerns? I am basically at the stage where I never go out into the garden without a mobile phone in a belt strapped round my waist. I did rig up a basic CCTV but there was an act of retaliation and I fear if I put up a proper system then the retaliation will be worse.

I am physically afraid of this man and appeasing him has come to seem normal. so it's hard to keep a clear head.

it's also hard to move because some of his angry letters amount to disputes over the property itself, not just a personal thing (sadly). So the reality is we will be living with this for some years.

Jesus. I'm so sorry, that sounds hideous!!!

Do you own your house or is it council/HA?

I'd HAVE to find a way to move.

Sorry I can't help with how referral to neighbourhood policing works, but it SOUNDS like you might get some help!!

Usually police forces have a response team and a neighbourhood team. Response officers do what it says, respond to initial incidents. They do have workloads but ongoing issues like neighbour disputes/problems are passed to the neighbourhood team.
They consist of police officers and PCSOs and will be your port of call and will work with you.

Thank you

It is all a bit bewildering.
I know “my” officer has now spoken to nightmare guy and given him some advice.
Hopefully that will help keep a bit of continuity.

I can imagine that it's confusing for people. Hopefully things will calm down for you.
