Hi

Took my LO for her first check up at 1yo she screamed the place down but dentist said her teeth were perfect

We have a check up next wed. Double appointment as I'm having one too and I want to know any tips or tricks to make it easier for LO

I've bought her a dentist play set a few months ago. We've been watching some kids dentist YouTube videos I let her "check" my teeth with her play set. Happily brushes her teeth twice a day no problems but I know she will scream blue murder when we get in there

She does this at the drs too always has done. Screams and hyperventilates before dr has even touched her I'm sure she remembers having her jabs!

So any tips or tricks welcome please

Have her sit on your lap instead of directly on the chair.
Failing that - bribery.

Second having your child sit on your lap.
Most of the time it's the people and surroundings they are scared of.
Peppa pig dentist episode is good for it.

I practiced the dental checkup with my dd several times before the appointment while telling her the dentist will be checking her teeth to make sure mummy has cleaned her teeth properly and that it won't hurt. Kept telling her the dentist is trying to help her by making sure mummy has cleaned her teeth properly. The first time she went to the dentist they gave her a sticker (she got to choose from a selection) which won her over. She got another sticker when the appointment ended. At the second appointment she asked for a sticker before the checkup started and got one, and now she likes going to the dentist as it is quite profitable for her sticker-wise. She sat on my lap for both appointments. If the dentist doesn't give stickers maybe you can give her one just before the checkup to distract her? We had a similar problem with having out dd's feet measured at a shoe store. She would resist and scream blue murder. So before we took her for the next shoe fitting DH and I found something that looked like a foot gauge and kept pretending to measure each others feet all excited and enthusiatic and then her feet as well, and she was then fine when we took her to the store for the actual fitting.
