What is the most ridiculous thing you have bought, then forgotten about?

During the sleepless nights when my children were small, I used to buy things then forgot I bought them until they arrived.

Most ridiculous was a very expensive weighted blanked, which is now shoved in the loft because I hated it.

I was looking online for a new waterproof and warm dog walking coat a few days ago . My husband insisted I’d bought one from Boden a couple of years back and disappeared inside the wardrobes to prove himself correct.
He found it. It’s very suitable. Lovely bright fleece lining and sporty waterproof outer. I scare if he’s a bit smug about it; saved me about £150 and stopped the coat being wasted.

@tectonicplates I bought one of those too at the Ideal Home exhibition. A pink plastic thing that seemed amazing when demonstrated but it was truly rubbish when I tried it at home.

I also bought, at the same show, an eyebrow shaping kit where you have a selection of stencils of different eyebrow shapes with a brow powder and brush. The demo was brilliant but I gave up after a couple of times trying to achieve the same effect at home.

A maileg doll bed. I was looking at them online recently and stometning stirred in my memory. I thought I’d bought one last Xmas then didn’t give it to Dd. I couldn’t find it anywhere. A last ditch look in the wardrobe and I found it in a box up high along with a maileg mouse and a felt turkey set. That’s Xmas half sorted!

Not anywhere as amusing as most of these but I frequently buy food and forget about it so we end up with some weird meals when I discover a selection of unconnected things about to go past their sell by date. Tonight we had homemade turkey and apple burgers with the Singapore noodles and some slightly wilted salad. We had sweet and sour pork with jacket potatoes on Monday as I thought I'd forgotten noodles. 🙄
Nobody complains - they're used to it

A kilo of Korean chilli paste. I have used a tablespoon of it so far in kimchi.

Also found Christmas presents two years later- bought, couldn’t find when wrapping, then forgotten.

A bag of Maltesers. They've been in my handbag for a week now. Unbelievable!

SimpleLife003 · 05/11/2020 22:12

I bought two giant blow up flamingos when I was drunk, completely forgot until they’d turned up a few days later! I think I was just as excited as I was when I’d ordered them 😂

A buggy board on ebay.

And a PS4! Accidentally clicked buy it now on amazon. Luckily DD (who wanted it) still wanted to buy it and it was a good price so it didnt have to go back.

In a sleep-deprived state I once bought the same magazine twice in the same week. And it took me until about two thirds of the way through the second copy before I realised that I'd read it already.

Oh ha ha my exercise bike. I just don't see it, it's basically invisible to me.

First ever Amazon Black Friday I bought a Vax carpet cleaner. It was such a good deal. Except we'd just had hard floors fitted.

One drunken Ebay buy was mounted antlers for DH for a surprise Christmas present. Another bargain. Except the postage cost was 4x the selling price and the parcel was HUGE. Really struggled to hide it.
