Freezing at bedtime

I end up wrapping up with wooly socks and a fleece and snuggling down under the duvet.

Inevitably I end up being woken by the heat and have to strip off all the carefully added layers before falling back asleep.

Does this happen to anyone else?!

Sometimes to me

Lostthetastefordahlias · 04/11/2020 19:24

Hot water bottle? Might cool down enough not to wake you?

BigRedBoat · 04/11/2020 19:25

Have you tried warming the bed with a hot water bottle or electric blanket first?

LizzieMacQueen · 04/11/2020 19:27

Sounds like you are getting into a cold bed and are layering up to compensate.

Get a bed mate or a cat or a hot water bottle to warm it up first for you. Would be my advice.

CoffeeChocolateGin · 04/11/2020 19:30

I'm so cold in the evening. I sleep in pyjamas, fluffy socks and I have begun to use a hot water bottle. The only way I can get to sleep is if I am warm. Like you, I sometimes wake in the night because I am warm but removing the hot water bottle is enough to cool me.
(I'm in my 30s. Not that it particularly matters!)

User647647 · 04/11/2020 19:31

I have quite bad circulation and love the warm Water bottle on my cold feet...

LongPauseNoAnswer · 04/11/2020 19:35

I might try the hot water bottle. DH runs hot but I hate sleeping so close and we have a huge bed because I love my space!

I’m currently having a hot bath to try to heat myself up before bed.

A bath's a good idea or a hot shower of course. You could leave your heating on overnight turned down low ?

ThatLibraryMiss · 04/11/2020 19:39

It's for people like you that electric blankets are sold. Get one with a timer.

TroysMammy · 04/11/2020 19:42

Blast your bedding with a hairdryer to take the chill off.

LongPauseNoAnswer · 04/11/2020 19:43

I think I prefer the idea of an electric blanket with a timer than a hot water bottle. Less faff.

I love nothing more than getting into a cool bed. I wear vest and shorts all year. And even though i have a duvet I'm boiling at night. So it gets a chuck over dh who moans that he’s too hot😂

KeziaOAP · 04/11/2020 20:14

Dual electric blanket with timer is the answer each side heats individually, couldn't do without mine. hot DH can stay cold

AdoraBell · 04/11/2020 20:16

Try the things already suggested.

I can’t sleep if I’m cold, DH gets heat rash. Last night was the first time since February that he hadn’t overheated, and that’s with windows open.

FunTimes2020 · 04/11/2020 20:16

Electric blanket all the way! You will love it!
