My neighbour came around to admire it yesterday. It was her that persuaded me to get one, I am a nurse but have stopped nights for now. I batch cook sometimes but I’ve only myself to feed. I really don’t need a slow cooker do I? What does actually taste better in it? And doesn’t it make you living space smell of cooking all day? I’m in a flat and can’t stand it if I smell cooking in my bedroom😃

@BorderlineHappy

I cooked my pork chops in it today. They turned out lovely. Really moist and the spuds underneath soaked up all the stock.

I did fry teh chops and onions because i had time to do so.

That sounds nice.

I did slow cooker brisket the other day using the recipe for barbacoa on the tortilla (buritto place that we like) website.

Was lovely, had it in wraps with rice, retried beans, guacamole, cheese and salad.

Can i ask any Americans on here ,why use chicken soup and ranch dressing in everything.

I'm not American and I fdon't use them in everything but I do cook chicken in mushroom soup sometimes.

This si for my small sc.

Skinless boneless chicken chopped (about 2 breasts or 4 thighs).
A few mushrooms, 4-5 normal, 1-2 portobello, 1 handful of the tiny ones
1 tin condensed mushroom soup
1 pot creme fraiche

Just stick it all in the sc.

The soup is quite salty and has other seasoning in so you don't need to add anything

Follow up question, not relating to slow cookers, I've just clicked on a recipe link for a cake that I thought looked nice only to find the ingredients started with yellow cake and vanilla pudding mixes Confused

I suppose it is very important to note the difference between yellow cake and yellowcake which is a chemical form of uranium.

I'm not completely opposed to packet mixes but wouldn't expect to see them in a recipe for 'grandmas rum cake'
