Hair dilemma

I’ve been growing out my grey for almost a year ( it’s not too noticeable as I was blond highlighted anyway) still a few inches to go before it’s all out.
I’m mid forties and during lockdown I’ve noticed a lot of signs of aging happening, face sagging, skin looking not the best and some weight gain on top. I feel like I look a lot different to myself a year ago and I’m not sure I’m ready to have grey hair on top of that. Is there anything (that actually works) I can put on my hair which won’t stain or dye it permanently but that will add some colour temporarily in the hope that it will make me feel a bit fresher without ruining all that effort growing out the dye?

Superdrug do a range called 'Colour Effects' which are basically conditioners that add very subtle tones that wash out over a few washes. I use the honey blonde one once a week to tone down my greys a bit and blend them in with my normal blonde hair - it's not a dramatic difference but it definitely works and leaves my hair nice and shiny, and they're only £1.99 so it's not the end of the world if you don't like it.

Oh that sounds good thanks. Do they wash out without staining?

Josh Wood Colour has a range of gloss treatments. I use the Ash one and feel it makes me look a bit fresher but isn't permanent

L'Oréal Age Perfect do toners for grey hair but they only last 2 washes. I've seen them in Superdrug.

I'm also grey, but older than you, and just cut my hair shorter due to looking a bit face saggy. I had grew my hair to bob length but it does nothing for me so chopped it up a bit. Makes the world of difference.

I have no suggestions but Superdrug Colour Effects permanently stained my dark blonde hair. I used the red ones, and the brown ones, so I can't say what the lighter shades would have done. I know a few other people who have experienced permanent staining from them too.

I use L'Oréal age perfect once every a month it doesn't damage your hair and I've been using it for two years as I grow my highlights out and embrace nature's highlights.

I've only used the blonde one, which is the same colour as my natural hair, so it just blends the greys in with n noticeable impact on the rest of my hair and washes out gradually over a few days. I did toy with the idea of the red one but will steer clear now!!

Thanks everyone. I’m wary of staining my hair but I’ll have a look at the suggestions
