Any dressmakers around?

I have a wrap around skirt with a belt tie that passes through a metal eyelet-type thing. It has come off (please see pictures). Is there any way I can fix this without specialist equipment? I've tried clicking it back together (it won't) and I've tried bashing it with a hammer.

Alternatively, is there any other way I could reinforce the 'buttonhole' part so I can still wear the skirt?

Thanks in advance Smile

You could reinforce the buttonhole with some iron-on interfacing, which would stiffen it and give it some protection from fraying. You would need to sew around the buttonhole too though. If you didn't want to tackle it yourself, I would think a dry cleaner who does alterations should be able to do it for you easily.

Maybe those little teeth on the clasp need pushing back in towards the middle iyswim? Hammer would've been my suggestion.

It looks like something like this www.amazon.co.uk/Weddecor-Eyelets-Grommet-Washers-Handbags/dp/B079RFXV63/ref=mp_s_a_1_10?dchild=1&keywords=large+oval+eyelet&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1604443182&sr=8-10

Looks like you need a specialist tool

Could a place like Timpsons help?

Or pop into a haberdashers?
