I’m feeling really down about the new lockdown. I’ve met a man and fallen head over heels after a horrible few years, messy divorce and not thinking I’d ever be with anyone again. He’s in Wales, I’m England and I was so very excited to be seeing him next week after not seeing him for weeks. And now I can’t for another month at least Sad.

But I’ve recently inherited some money so we’re going to have a lovely mini break (4-5 days) in February, hopefully. Please don’t tell me that everything will be the same and we still won’t be able to go anywhere. I know this is quite possible but I don’t want to hear it.

Where should we go? I like a bit of culture, possibly museums and nice walks. Ideally an amazing hotel. I don’t fancy Paris or Rome but any other suggestions of places you’ve been and loved? What’s Iceland like in February? I’ve been in midsummer when it never gets dark. A few hours daylight to go exploring each day so we don’t feel guilty about just spending the rest of the time shagging sounds tempting though.

Copenhagen? We had a lovely stay there, lots of good walks and culture

Madeira? Great for walking and the weather should be nice and spring like. There's probably enough interesting stuff to do in Funchal too and the hotels are supposed to be decent.

Plus they've got covid protection nailed so as long as we're allowed out of the country by then and you can produce a negative test at the right time, then it's low risk of cancellation.

Although Iceland in February is good for the Northern Lights and I think a lot of things in the cities will be well set up for getting on with it in darkness. I'd imagine the Blue Lagoon will be an interesting/magical experience at that time of year.

Probably not good for driving round looking at waterfalls though.

I’ve never done Copenhagen or Madeira. Would you say there was enough to do in Copenhagen to keep you busy for 4 days anewmum2018? Whereabouts did you stay?

barbaraofseville I hadn’t considered going somewhere that might actually be warm in February and Madeira looks gorgeous! Just need to check I could fly from Bristol. I think Blue Lagoon in the dark could be very strange. I hadn’t thought about all the things darkness would rule out but snuggling up in the warm after a couple of hours daylight sounds heavenly right now. I’ll probably end up sick of the sight of him by February at this rate anyway Grin
