Hi All

Has anybody done this recently and with any success.

I work, I have 2 kids (tween and teen) and a husband (who might do it also).

I'm mentioning my family as I've heard the program can be quite time consuming and I need something I can be realistic to work with. I like the idea of having a goal to work towards with exercises to do also.

Any thoughts appreciated before I invest the money. I'm posting here for more traffic as I can't do another Lockdown without any exercise and eating crap food...

Thank you!

Thank you Halo.

Can I ask how long you spent food prepping every week and was it very expensive to buy the food?

Also what do you mean about the guidelines?

I’m on it now and it’s fab - can not recommend it enough.

I’ve just finished cycle 1 (4 weeks) and lost 7.5 inches. He doesn’t talk about weight loss (scales are known as the sad step and are to be avoided unless at the end of a cycle). My starting BMI was in the healthy range but I need to do some toning.

Instead of 5 work outs a week a did 3, but I try to hit 10,000 steps on other days (not that he mentions those). I stick to the meals 90% and created my own a lot. Basically you eat a lot more protein and drink a lot more water which helps fill you up and eat less carbs. It’s deffo not a fad and I’ll make some long term changes as a result eg with curry I’ll just have a bigger portion of the meat but just with a couple of poppadoms and no rice. I do the same with chilli con carne too. Feel free to message me if you have more questions!

I’ve just graduated after doing it through the last lockdown (I extended each cycle a bit longer). Am thrilled with the results, lost 2 stone 3 and dropped 2 dress sizes.
It does take a bit of commitment and the food prep can be a bit of a ball ache but a lot of the recipes are really good.
Since finishing I have maintained my weight and am sticking to the principles learnt. I used to drink most nights but have knocked that on the head and generally feel more energised and look better. When you join the fb page for those doing it you will see endless pics of people with brilliant results. I thoroughly recommend it!

Thank you all for your feedback, it's made me decide to do it!!

I appreciate it and I might take you up on your message invitation to ask about meal prep and timings.

Which FB page do you recommend?

randomsabreuse · 03/11/2020 12:46

Do you need to eat separately from young,
-slightly fussy- kids or is it just you have a fake carb substitute? My main concern is that my obvious exercise "window" is once the beasties are in bed so not before 8pm which would either add a meal or be very late for dinner!

Lighterthanlife · 03/11/2020 15:27

I assume you get access to a private FB page when you join?

I'm slightly dreading the food prep
as I find it difficult to cooks me prep all the meals as it is...

I'm hoping it will be hell to start but then I'll get more energy and few more enthusiastic as I progress?

It will be all dressed up and nowhere to go. But least I'll be thin for the NY 🥳.

I LOVE this programme! I joined to get motivated into doing regular exercise, which are fab, especially as they are short! The FB support page is one of the best groups ever, people are so realistic and supportive of each other. The food is really tasty, please don't be daunted, you quickly get used to the prep. I saved the meal plan onto my kindle app, which makes it easier to read.

LER83 · 03/11/2020 16:51

I did it over the first lockdown with dh. I did enjoy the exercise and some of the food was delicious, i never felt hungry, but sadly I didn't get very good results and for me it wasn't worth the amount of effort that goes into it! My dh lost over a stone and toned up lots so he was happy though. We spent a fortune on food, and most of the meals resulted in the kitchen looking like a war zone! I'm glad I did it though as it stopped me pigging out and we've got lots of new meal ideas.

Lighterthanlife · 03/11/2020 17:38

Thanks for your responses!

@LER83 did you put on weight? That is one of my scares about this as the food looks nice but not really what I'd eat if I was trying to lose weight...

I've got an underactive thyroid if anybody can relate?

@Lighterthanlife hope you don't mind me dropping onto your thread but I'm also thinking about doing this and particularly interested in whether the food can work for a family? DS is fussy.... and I cannot deal with having to cook two lots of meals (though obvs can work with subbing different carbs and stuff in.)

LER83 · 03/11/2020 18:04

@Lighterthanlife I didn't put any on, but didn't loose any either! I had better success just tracking calories on the my fitness pal app. I did enjoy the exercise, but it just didn't work for me. I probably would have stuck with it if it had given me loads of energy/healthy skin etc, but it didn't! When I did slimming world previously I felt great! It obviously works for lots of people, the Facebook page has got loads of success stories! No harm in giving it a go!

Lighterthanlife · 03/11/2020 18:55

@LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett

Join in please! I've been thinking about this plan for AGES and have the same concerns as you...

I kind of think it will be batch cooking for me a s my husband (him also helping of course!) and cooking separately foe the kids. My kids forensically deconstruct any meal that has "unusual l" ingredients anyway so I can't be bothered to go down that route.

@LER83 I'd be so disappointed not to shift the weight but it sounds like most people have success so I'll have to go with the majority but it is a concern ... just because of the amount of effort to do it.

I've just remembered someone from work did it a few years ago, I'll message her and ask - will report back! Smile

Parrish · 03/11/2020 23:21

I did during the first lockdown. I lost a few inches but put on 2 lbs. the cooking was a pain in the bum and a lot of food. I should have been wary of that. I am of the opinion that it does not work for everyone.
I hate the diet industry.

thereinmadnesslies · 03/11/2020 23:25

I did it a few years ago and gained weight - I have an underactive thyroid and I’m veggie. The portion sizes of the food were huge and seem to be aimed at men, when I contacted my support hero they were clueless. I also gained a knee injury from the exercises and the physio I saw For the injury was critical of some of the exercises. It was pretty depressing tbh.
