Are you doing fireworks for the kids this year? If so, where did you buy them from?

Yes we are, there is precious little to look forward too, we don't have any neighbours with pets, we will be doing a few fireworks, som sparklers, sausages for dinner and melting marshmallows on the fire pit.

pistolknight · 02/11/2020 19:50

Definitely not

They should be banned

doctorhamster · 02/11/2020 19:52

No. I will be spending the evening trying to reassure my terrified cats and autistic child.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 02/11/2020 19:54

No, they’re fucking stupid things to put in the hands of the public.

I would be less vehement if they were silent.

CarriesFlower82 · 02/11/2020 19:55

Yes we will but only on Thursday and at 7pm. I think as long as it's one night a year and within an acceptable time then people can prepare. The problem is the constant fireworks from Oct-Jan going off at all hours.

GuyFawkesHadTheRightIdea · 02/11/2020 19:59

Yes of course. If people can use them every other day of the year in my area for any little reason they can think of, then I'll be doing them on the one day they're meant for. And a garden fire too.

AriettyHomily · 02/11/2020 20:02

Not a chance. They should be banned apart from organised displays.

We'll have some sparklers.

CupboardMonsterMash · 02/11/2020 20:05

Please don't, three of my neighbours and us have pets that freak out and another neighbour has a child who gets terribly upset and won't sleep for fear. Needless to say we all loath the selfish people who insist on letting them off despite made aware of the impact.

Stormblessed · 02/11/2020 20:10

Just a few sparklers and a small quiet pack since we can't go to a display.

OverTheRainbow88 · 02/11/2020 20:11

I love fireworks! Highlight of the winter for me... when I hear them I have to see them and run around the house trying to find the right window to see them from.!! Gutted they aren’t Happening, but Won’t be having our own. Maybe some sparklers though!

Hiccupiscal · 02/11/2020 20:17

Love Reading the food ideas. Considering starting a thread just for inspiration Grin

bravotango · 02/11/2020 20:18

Unless you live in the middle of nowhere (and not near a farm/livestock) then no no no. Should be banned IMO

Echobelly · 02/11/2020 20:20

We never do them as our kids, daughter especially, just find them too loud and/or suprising, even when standing indoors. Also our garden is titchy, so we're a bit limited even if they could tolerate them.

ScrumptiousBears · 02/11/2020 20:20

We are thinking of it but haven't decided for definite yet.

1940s · 02/11/2020 20:21

@devildeepbluesea

No. Fireworks at home are bloody dangerous and incredibly cruel to pets
Yup
TitianaTitsling · 02/11/2020 20:22

Every year theres a petition to the government to ban private sales of fireworks and every year it comes back saying that its not in the publics best interest, I don't know anyone or ever see anyone likes them!

LollipopViolet · 02/11/2020 20:40

No, as a person with sensory issues around noise, I hate them and live with earplugs in or headphones on for about 2 weeks. Got burnt by a sparkler as a 7 year old so wary of those too!

Love the pretty effects, hate the noise.

safariboot · 02/11/2020 21:25

I'm having them because I like them. Been the first time in a few years we've been able to. Always had and enjoyed them when I was younger.

I'll be having them on the 5th weather permitting and I have mostly low noise ones, I'm hoping that mitigates the impact. And anyway loads of other people in my area have been having them.

Plummeting · 02/11/2020 21:53

No, because our garden is far too small but we do all love fireworks and going to a bit public display is a yearly event for us so instead we have a plan to take a walk to a nearby hill overlooking a built up area and hopefully see a few home displays...

Miljea · 02/11/2020 22:34

Personally, I love fireworks!

But I understand that others don't.

PeonyandDahlia · 02/11/2020 22:41

Yes. We have a Catherine wheel and a Roman candle, nothing noisy. We are having a small fire and sparklers, toasting marshmallows and making toffee apples.
I will let the neighbours know.

Excitedforxmas · 02/11/2020 22:50

We are having a bbq in Scotland in November!!
