Anybody want to use lockdown to achieve some goals?

Might as well try to embrace a somewhat positive attitude and use it to shift some weight and read a couple of books.
I think I’m still working (part time) but I’ll find out tomorrow.
I thought I’d stick to 1200 cals a day to stop comfort eating, exercise dvd 3x a week, start reading a book and limit my internet time wasting.

Yes!

Will try something similar; but maybe 1800 calories!

Sparklingbrook · 01/11/2020 19:20

I did bog all the first lockdown on furlough except eat biscuits, watch YouTube and read. A month or so ago I came across an IG account called lauren.jumps who instead of doing that picked up a skipping rope for the first time. She is amazing now and I am pondering if I could do it. Industrial bra may be required but it would be very impressive.

Fatted · 01/11/2020 19:21

Nah. I've already done my panic buying in IKEA and spent this weekend building flat pack. Only one more week for Wales (although I won't believe it until I see it!)

AlexaShutUp · 01/11/2020 19:25

Yes, I'm in.

Going to exercise daily (no excuses!), and will do 16:8 four days per week. Am also going to kick my procrastination habit for good!

AdultHumanFemale · 01/11/2020 19:28

Very jealous. I'm heading in to see my class again tomorrow (which will be lovely) but as in Covid hotspot and previous confirmed cases, I'm bricking it slightly.

FatGirlShrinking · 01/11/2020 19:34

I'm going to keep up the diet, aiming for 10 lb loss in November and I'm going to finish C25K.

AlexaShutUp · 01/11/2020 19:35

Sorry to hear that you're worried about being safe at work, AdultHumanFemale. We parents really appreciate what teachers are doing.

I'll still be working full time, so won't have loads of extra time, but I'm just planning to use the lockdown period to focus the mind!Smile

Thighdentitycrisis · 01/11/2020 19:45

I want to focus for the next 4 weeks on same/similar goals:
Reading over internet browsing
I’ll still be working; might be increased hours, but want to reduce bad eating and do a bit of exercise - I have an injury on my hip and haven’t exercised since August, waiting for physio but feel like I might as well give it a go!

HotPatootiebootie · 01/11/2020 19:57

Yes! By a total stroke of luck I ordered the stuff too decorate my living room, tile my hallway and bedroom and decorate my sons rooms on Thursday gone. So I am half way through my living room with help from my kids and husband.... new couches come on Thursday. Then I want to tile the hall way. Then hopefully ply the bedroom floor and tile that. We also have flooring to lay in my husbands flat too that was originally going to be put in my bedroom ( we each have our own property as we like our own space).

I also really want to get a start on the reading list I have compiled and purchased in preparation for my phd proposal. No rush on that but you can't beat being curled up on the couch in your brand new living room with a brew, a book and some nice candles.

Wrap presents. Write my festive shopping list. Make practice mince pies.

AdultHumanFemale · 01/11/2020 19:57

Thanks, Alexa Smile I realised I sounded like a complete kill joy. Sorry. I bought an accordion in the summer, thinking I'd learn, and that's what I would be doing!

Sniv · 01/11/2020 20:01

I'm going to fire up Duolingo again and aim for a month-long streak.

Glenthebattleostrich · 01/11/2020 20:05

I'm still working 4 days a week and helping a friend in their business one day.

I still plan to paint the hallway, playroom and my bedroom, crochet a blanket, crochet some toys for story sacks and make a couple of Christmas presents. I may also wrap the kitchen if I have time before Christmas.

Last lockdown I redid the front and back gardens (front I lifted turf, laid fake grass and built planters, back I built planters, painted fences and did a big tidy), redid the study, DDs room, living room and kitchen. Oh and trained to run 10k.

I deal with lockdown by keeping as busy as possible. If I can't sit still I can't sit and fret.

Rockbird · 01/11/2020 20:07

All still working and at school here so lockdown will make zero difference to our lives.

PositiveLife · 01/11/2020 20:08

I want to make sure I eat properly this time instead of having too many biscuits and cakes. Definitely going to try and workout more this time.

Also hoping to finish a couple of books.

AlexaShutUp · 01/11/2020 20:12

No need to apologise SingleAdultFemale, the situation in schools is very tough for teachers right now, I totally get it.

Any chance you can make some time for the accordion practice in the evenings? Might be good stress relief!

icecream2965 · 01/11/2020 20:38

Yes please!

  1. Continue to do well at work, have a push.
  2. Just started NHS Couch to 5km
  3. Keep with the healthy eating and lose 7lb a month (1.5 stone to go)
  4. Keep up sleeping well
  5. Try and be more productive/stop wasting time doing the IG/FB/MN flick...maybe I need to give this a time limit of 20 min an evening
Planet42 · 01/11/2020 23:44

Lots of us seem to have similar goals. I need to work out a food plan that’s satisfying and healthy at 1200 calories. I’ll be starting tomorrow.
@AdultHumanFemale I’ve got friends who work in schools and I know it’s tough for them. Keep taking vitamin d, c and zinc as I hear that helps to keep your immune system strong. Even without covid, it’s helpful for all the colds and flu that goes around.

I'm signing up. Lockdown suits me.
I want to lose some weight and will use lockdown as an opportunity to go out for a daily walk as excersise. That is if we are allowed? Will wait for the guidance.
I am a solitary anti social soul and I don't go out much usually but I will if there is no traffic and no people.

icecream2965 · 02/11/2020 09:01

Morning, I have officially had my 20mins on social media (more like hour!).

Aiming for a productive work day, no social media until 8pm, hourly desk breaks, a walk later on, no spending, healthy lunch (which I made yesterday) and no social media. Did I mention no social media?

My reward is going to be a soak in the bath tonight.

Planet42 · 02/11/2020 09:17

Morning. Good luck @icecream2965 though I don’t expect to hear back til after 8 Smile

I’m working this morning so won’t be on social media and won’t be eating til I’m back home.
I’m starting my book today and figure I’ll read instead of aimless browsing. I imagine I could finish a book a week doing this.
I’m doing a 30 minute dvd this afternoon.

I was thinking this too. I'm still wfh and thankfully dc are in school so nothing will change there but with swimming and sports clubs cancelled there'll be a big gap of time in an evening after school. I want to find nice ways to make use of it with the kids.
I also need to exercise and eat better, all my clothes are too tight Confused

Hiccupiscal · 02/11/2020 09:27

Yes please! This time lockdown is really hitting me hard, I had just started really "living' again, going to the gym, looking after myself, feeling good, booking activities.. now i feel im going to go backwards. Prehaps this thread with help.

  1. STAY AWAY FROM ALCOHOLIC DRINKS (this is the big one, I drank so much during lock down last time, I'm aiming for a sober November)
  1. Joining others on the thread with reading. I have had the same book for MONTHS and im only 10 or so pages in, I spend all my time just being online! Such a waste.
  1. Walk my dogs. Ive been so lazy with dog walking. They don't 'ask/fuss' so we don't go! Not good for me or my dogs!
  1. Continue a yoga regime/meditation, just started classes at the gym, so rather then just get upset i can't go, try and make space and to do some of it at home.
  1. Eat healthy. Cook well.... far too much eating rubbish, my only problem is I hate the panic buyers, the queuing etc. I like meal planning and buying fresh ingredients daily, but if people continue the way they have it'll suck all the fun out of shopping

So, those are my goals. Rrally hope to stick to them!

Pythone · 02/11/2020 10:20

Yes! I have an art project I want to make some decent progress on, after completely losing all drive to do anything creative during the previous lockdown.

Thighdentitycrisis · 02/11/2020 20:56

I will join the no MN until 8pm guideline, in fact might as well say no internet browsing.
I need a line in the sand as I have very little self control
I have cut back on alcohol and aim to maintain that

Planet42 · 04/11/2020 13:38

Hope we’ve all had a good warm up to start tomorrow Smile
