Is there anything you can put on them for pain/ discomfort or do they need to stay dry?

Maybe use stuff suitable for chicken pox spots. Could you phone your gp to get antivirals? And take pain relief

Cocolapew · 01/11/2020 19:38

I'm going to phone tomorrow, whether or not I get a phone call back is another matter!

Do you definitely have shingles as you can get a similar rash with COVID? The Poxclin mousse for chicken pox is very soothing, keep it in the fridge and it is really cooling. You should definitely have anti-virals if it is shingles, but you will need a prescription for those and ideally start within 48 hours of the rash appearing.

Calamine lotion helps, and plenty of painkillers.

Zavirax the cold sore cream is really good for shingles. I got it in tablet form. When I had them and my sister got the cream when she had them.

Keep them dry
Get antivirals ASAP and take normal pain relief too
You need to rest too and let your body recover

I had shingles last year and still have post neuro pain on occasion

Cocolapew · 01/11/2020 19:41

I've had a sore head and throat and some breathing issues but no temperature or coughing. I've got a dodgy lung so the breathing issue isn't unusual.

You can get shingles more than once especially if you are a bit run down and under the weather

tsmainsqueeze · 01/11/2020 22:46

I've had it twice , once as a child and again early 20's.
I was quite ill 1st time , i remember feeling awful for about 3 weeks , and the rash was nasty .
When i got it at 21 the rash was very mild and just a small area , i don't remember feeling ill but the after pain stayed with me for years , at its worst i could get relief from using a sun bed , obviously not very good for you.
Also 2 out of my 3 kids have had it too when very small , thankfully mild with no after effects.
Rest as much as you can , i hope you are soon on the mend , its a horrible illness .

Cocolapew · 01/11/2020 23:21

My immune system is a bit erratic due to Lupus.
Feeling pretty ill atm so I'll phone the Dr tomorrow.
