Hope you feel better soon. I love Greece too. I used to live on the island next to Kos, Kalymnos. Ever been there? There are some lovely beaches on the other side of the island, not port side. You can get a five min boat over to Telendos island too. Amazing especially if you like diving. There are underwater ruins.

Thank you @CaraDuneRedux, mine lower GI, (sorry if tmi) but I'm also constipated, think that's why they're a bit reluctant to keep giving pain relief....atm I rather not poo and be pain free, feels like I'm being shot?? It cones from nowhere? Is that normal? How long should this last for??

I wasn't Google ready for this....

Sorry op, what a day! I think take the pain relief and ask them for help re constipation too, laxatives or if need be an enema before you go home.

Sorry you're struggling Flowers

It will pass! You’re going to be fine. It must’ve been a horrible ordeal, that and the anaesthetic will have messed up your sleep.... but the anaesthetic + anti-emetics + pain killers + stress + surgery itself is going to have been a lot to deal with.
Think of Greek islands and snowy Massachusetts!

Can I ask for an enema? If they think that's whats possibly causing the pain??

Why do I always feel reluctant to ask for help!!??

I think it's very reasonable to ask for advice re constipation and whether laxatives/enema would be useful at this point. It's better to get in early rather than store up further trouble iyswim. You'll be needing further pain relief and so some kind of laxative is pretty much inevitable. I know how you feel, I hate asking for things too, but yes you absolutely can and should. As my DM would say, that's what they're there for!

Ps there might be certain things they don't want to use after abdominal surgery, I don't know but they will know what to advise.

Ouch. Whatever it is I hope you're okay and heal in no time.
I'd also love to visit the states. Which states would you like to go to? How would you go to each state etc?
Would you like to take your DD's to Disney World?.

Your recovery time will be longer if you're stressed. Obviously I could imagine unexpected surgery and not being prepared would cause anyone stress but try to take it easy. I use an app called Synctuition it's great for putting your mind at ease and getting you off to sleep x

The anaesthetic may have made you constipated or it could be the gas they pump inside you. Ask if you can have a cup of peppermint tea or some Buscopan to relieve the cramps.

Hope you've managed to get some pain relief and sleep, @Rubay.

Opioids are notorious for making you constipated. And I can tick off a lot of what you're going through - so yes, normal if extremely unpleasant. Feeling like you'd been shot when you came round from the op - yup, whimpering with pain till they gave me IV morphine. Referred pain in shoulder. Difficulty peeing (mine was meant to be elective day surgery but I was kept in overnight due to lack of per and vomiting). The pre op notes I got warned me of likely constipation.

I'm guessing you're currently being treated to the mild chaos that goes with the morning shift handover, but they should be doing the drugs round soon. Talk to the nurses about pain relief (and anti emetics if you need them).

If you can get a heat pack for your shoulders , it really helps with the gas pain

Hope you are feeling better soon

How are you feeling now?

I went in for stomach pain & ended up with an emergency appendectomy (never had a minutes bother with it before that day). Surgery at midnight felt felt a bit weird.

I was trying to think how I'd managed the loo, then remembered I woke up with a catheter that I hadn't been expecting. It was a little weird to know someone had been rummaging around down there & I hadn't known about it.

I had a canula in my right hand (really painful) and one in my left arm (not nice but not too painful) and they wanted to remove my catheter...errr no not until I can go to the toilet. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Definitely ask them about any relief for constipation, drink lots of water & move around as soon as you feel able.

Get home as soon as you can. You can always go back if you need to. DH will have to make sure your older one understand not to rush at you or squish you and he'll have to hold onto the little one until you're sitting down then be prepared to lift her away if she's too much.

Hope you're feeling a lot better now. (I looked like a pregnant ⛄️ With all the gas!!

Get someone to buy you some Rennie Deflating on your way home, they help massively to get the gas out. I've had 4 laparoscopic operations & always used them as soon as I could afterwards & peppermint oil capsules that are sold for IBS. I also took arnica tablets for the bruising you get in your belly button where they put the largest port. Keep drinking, & take stool softeners, either lactulose or Dulcoease to help the constipation gently. Use a heat pad or hot water bottle, the heat massively helps the pain, I would think they will send you home with painkillers, usually I get given diclofenac & dihydracodeine, every time you take them, take a stool softener as well & drink gallons. By the time you have been home a couple of days you will feel better, get lots of rest for the first week & don't do any lifting of anything heavier than the kettle.

Rennie deflating definitely sounds like something I need right now ( I can't fart?? ) plus my tummy really swollen and tender...DH keeps phoning me to let me know how in control he is and after a day has discovered different (and better!) ways to do everything......

I give him till 6 o'clock bathtime.....
