Even if you switch insurance providers next year?

I know that’s the case with car insurance but not entirely sure with home insurance. If anyone has any real life experiences, that’d be great.

I was considering claiming for a repair that costs £160 for an emergency water leak (from countrywide home emergency cover / Axa)

Yes it will go up in price if you claim. Depending on how much you pay per year currently you can decide whether they £160 is worth it.

Yes definitely. I've had to claim twice on mine in the last few years (once was a burglary where they smashed a door in, the other was a stolen car driven into my garage) and despite there being no fault on my part whatsoever, my premiums have gone up massively as a result.

Thanks both. Even if you go to a different insurance provider next year?

Hmm I claimed on home emergency this year, my premium only went up £20. Think my HE cover might be a secondary, additional policy on top of the main one though.

@truly2345 yes I went with a different provider but you have to declare any claims you've made over the last few years.

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 30/10/2020 19:37

Yes with any provider it will be more expensive, although odds are the insurer you had the claim with will be less competitive.
