Please bare with me me , while i try to explain !
We have an outside (roof) areial with a lead that comes into a hole into the sitting room via a socket that TV areial is pluged into .
TV only used for consoles really .
Upstairs in my room ..
TV and youview box .with internal areial.

Gardener cut the areial lead ( by accident )
During big overhall of front garden area near window .
So " main" chimmney areial broke .
I thought it was my youview box that was on the blink for not recording /watching programs properly ..
But is it the cut areial ?
I know i think it is ...but
Is it easy / cheep/ expensive to have a new lead put in .

Where are you in the country?
£150 will get you a brand new one fitted here.

Justforphoto · 29/10/2020 21:32

If you have a separate internal aerial for the you view box then no the cut aerial won't be the issue

If the cable has just been cut, surely all that's needed is two connectors for the cut ends and a coupler in the middle to join together. As it's outside, you need to put some form of rubber shielding on it to keep it waterproof.

Haven't had a TV aerial for years, but have had to do this in years gone by when we've moved a TV around.

If you can't do it yourself, there will be people you could get in to do it. Far cheaper than a new cable. The connectors and coupler are no more than a fiver online I'd say.

Yes, you can get connectors to join the broken lead. Screwfix probably sell them as well as online.

I know this because DP has cut our Virgin Media cable which runs under the hedge, while cutting said hedge, more than once.

The second time he also bought some trunking to contain the cable - if your wires are in a position that is vulnerable to careless gardeners, you may wish to do the same. Also available from Screwfix.
