Perimenopause and Back Pain

Hiya. I decided to put this here rather than the Menopause board as I'm hoping to hear from women who have got past the Menopause (intact).
The issue is back and shoulder pain caused by muscle tension - apparently (according to physio and GP) it's linked to unbalanced hormones and gets worse at certain times of the month. It feels like the muscles in my back are clenched up and it moves around. It comes and goes. Am on HRT, take D3 and magnesium, swim, do Pilates and Yoga, have physio and sports massage, avoid booze and drink plenty of water.
Has anyone had issues with muscular back pain and had it improve? Have been having menopausal symptoms for 5 years - hot flushes etc are sorted by HRT but not this... it's quite boring!

I went through a phase of getting shoulder and knee pain. It sort of moved around if that makes sense? I felt like a wooden puppet that had lost its strings. I think peri’ may cause tendon inflammation hence weird random pains. I found osteopathy partially helpful for the shoulder, but it was acupuncture that really sorted out my knee.

Thanks so much @Craftycorvid. Interesting about acupuncture as haven't tried that. Did it all settle down eventually?

Yes! Post-meno’ it’s improved a lot. I’m starting to feel much more like ‘me’ again.

Am so pleased for you and thank you for replying! Peri is sooo miserable and it helps so much to hear from women who have had their symptoms improve. Take care Flowers

Would def recommend an Osteo/physio if you can to hopefully improve it or can help id if it's something else.

Without meaning to alarm you I had similar combined with getting a dog . All sorts of aches and pains that I put down to peri/me being unfit that slowly built up until I could barely move in the mornings.

Finally went to an osteo but after no improvement they sent me to gp to ask for blood tests. Was then sent to rheumatologist who id'd an autoimmune cond and now I'm pain free.

The list of potential symptoms for peri is huge so it can be easy to dismiss/shrug things off blaming that, thinking it will pass.

I'm well past the menopause now, and from reading some of the threads on here from women 20 years my junior I am much fitter and less achey than they are. I do pilates, walk and have been doing some heavy gardening recently with no problems.

The only problem I had during peri menopause was migraines, which I no longer get. Even the hot flushes weren't too bad. I didn't get the aches and pains, mood swings or brain fog either.
