How much to drink before ultrasound?

Posting in here for traffic, sorry!

I've been referred for an ultrasound after my postnatal check. It is tomorrow but was organised late Friday PM, and so they didn't have time to send me a letter. I was told to come with a full bladder. I had a section and don't get any sensation to know if my bladder is full or not yet. I didn't think of this at the time to ask the person who rang, but does anyone know roughly how much I will need to drink, and how soon before the scan?

Thank you Thanks

Just have a big bottle of water on your way to the appointment/in the waiting room.

I remember drinking sooo much water I was then honestly about to burst in the middle of the scan

@Bunnymumy Grin I was told there was a chance it will be internal. I thought I was safe from all the poking around by now..!

@LivingoffCoffee do you think a 500ml bottle will do? Think that's what my chilly holds. My fear is being overfull and having an accident due to the fact I can't tell if I need the loo or not Blush

All the ultrasounds I've had have asked me to drink one pint of water one hour before.

I think that it was 150ml (1.5 pints) for my 12 week scan.

Bubblebox · 25/10/2020 20:03

850ml that should say.

Definitely don't overdo it. You'll be so uncomfortable if they're overrunning. Just have what you normally would but try not to go to the toilet for an hour before. On more than one occasion I've ended up going to the toilet completely on autopilot just before I've left the house. I then had to chug loads of water on the way to the appointment making me absolutely desperate in the waiting area.
