Stokke Tripp trapp - what do I need?

I've fancied one of these since DS (11 months) was born but couldn't justify the cost. I've just picked up a second hand one for a bargain price and I am so excited. It's just the wooden chair just now and I believe it's a newer model.

DS is 11 months. What extra bits will I need? I'm assuming the baby set but hopefully he'll be happy sitting at the table with us and we won't need a tray? Probably a cushion so he's comfy?

I'd start with the baby set. Shouldn't need anything else

Mylittlesandwich · 25/10/2020 11:54

That's good to know, so he won't need a cushion until he's a bit older?

You don't necessarily need the cushion at all, it's just for show/comfort (and it gets covered in food and needs washing).

I am fairly sure you can also buy third party cushions which are compatible if you want to save a bit :) I would recommend having two.

I had to take the cushions off quite early as their legs were squashed otherwise. They seemed quite comfortable on the bare wood first with the rail and now without.
The chairs we have are from their cousins so 15 years old, still look great.

They do seem to age really well, I checked the date of manufacture on the bottom to make sure I was looking at the right baby set. It was made in 2008 and you would not know looking at it.

We didn’t have the cushion and never used the straps, just had that plastic bit that they put their legs through. It has grown with my daughter - she’s nine and still uses it!

westendgirl780 · 25/10/2020 13:53

Just the baby set, the cushions would never be out the wash!

byvirtue · 25/10/2020 14:05

If he’s 11 months maybe the baby set? My daughter was out of the baby set quite quickly after turning 1 as she could get up and down herself.

I can vouch for the ageing well, ours are almost 20 and 14 years old. We still have them around the kitchen table Grin

He sits well in it (we had to have a wee go when we got home. When it's pushed into the table there isn't room for him to escape down the side but I'm worried about him sliding down in it. He wouldn't be able to reach the floor but he could hurt himself.
