Applying frosted glass type film stuff to a front door?

Just moved house and discovered ( I don’t know how we missed it Confused ) that the large glass panel by the side of the front door is completely clear glass floor to ceiling.
And our crazy dog is people reactive so it’s a total pain.
I have found loads of film type panels online but wonder if they actually work for that size of area ir if they will look awful? I could try a curtain but she’d possibly tear in down if she was in the right mood 😩

I get a professional to take a look and consider changing the glass to opaque. Or maybe use panels of the film do it’s not one big block. We’ve used it on a window and it did peel up round the edges a bit.

I've used the film on the panels in my front door and they look fab, haven't peeled or come off at all. Mine stuck on by just wetting it with water so comes off easily if required. It was from Amazon.

I covered the inside of the glass doors of cabinet with the same kind of film (not adhesive film) and found it easy and effective. Cost £10 from Amazon.

Well it's quite cheap (e.g. frostbrite) and removable so it's worth a try.

Yes, I used it on small window on my front door and the entire side window in the living room. It's really easy to do and it's stayed put for years. It's really cheap too.

TakeMeToYourLiar · 25/10/2020 12:14

Haven't done it to a door, but I've had it on the windows of the front of the house for 7 years now and it hasn't budged. Given how cheap it is it's worth giving it a go

Dominicgoings · 25/10/2020 14:37

Thanks. Worth a go Smile

Give it a go. I bought some for my front door from b&q. Its been on over 2 years now and you wouldn't even notice it. Failing that you could get it changed to 2-way glass, then you could see who is at the door, but they can't see you!

billy1966 · 25/10/2020 14:56

I did this years ago with a spray on some windows that I wanted privacy from.

Cost very little and worked out perfectly and lasted.

Any arts and craft shop would have it.

Glass frosting spray is what its called.

I used spray too! When we bought our house we discovered the BATHROOM had clear glass panels. Previous owners put net curtains on it. We bought to renovate and extend so didn't want to bother with replacing the door. Works perfect, kind of a frosted glass look. Bought the spray in Aldi for about €5!

We have a big floor to ceiling window in the living room and have panelled the whole bottom half for this very reason - it works perfectly. And as a pp says, it's cheap enough to give it a shot either way.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 25/10/2020 15:14

Sorry - we've panelled it with the glass film, that really wasn't clear!

BiteyShark · 25/10/2020 15:16

I did this for our dog. I used the one where it sticks by wetting the glass before you apply it.

Worked really well, stopped the dog barking and after 2 years I removed it and found it doesn't bother him anymore.
