Have you sent your child to a holiday club this half term?

I'm just curious about how many are running, as many in my area haven't re-opened. Also for those who have managed to send their children, have you noticed any differences due to Covid-19?

I had one day booked next week for ds but we have had to cancel due to someone in ds's class testing positive so he's self isolating! I know of at least 3 running in our area, I suspect more. For 2 of them you had to book a whole week or a block of days and they had reduced hours. The one we booked you could choose any combination of days and hours were as normal. We used this club for 2 weeks in the summer and the difference were- instead of going into settle you dropped dc at door to someone wearing full ppe. Temperature check at door before dc allowed through. Activities were organised in small multi age bubbles rather than by age. A lot of outside play. No dodgeball or most of the inside games. More art based activities and quizzes etc inside than active games- outside for anything active. Half term looked pretty much the same lines. Ds was still very happy with it over summer.

That's a really helpful and detailed post, thank you. Where abouts was the club based? As I think venues being closed is what has stopped a lot of our clubs from reopening.

All the ones I know about are based at schools- most of the ones in our area seem to run at schools, which I guess makes it a bit easier/more likely to be open.

DS(5) will be attending 2 holiday clubs as he had a 2 week half-term, and I work. Both are in local state primary schools in East London, and there are slight changes (bring a packed lunch, grouped by ages). One is for working parents only.

There are also clubs running locally for football, drama and multi sports. All are fully booked, including the ones that only run from 9-3 and can't be used for childcare.

My DS primary school have kept the before/after school provision running all the way through & Holiday club for key workers. However this half term, they have closed due to lack of demand. We don't currently have any isolating bubbles so not sure why demand has dropped.
They have been keeping the key stages separate, extra hand washing etc, visors for staff, not providing snacks, using the hall for indoor activities with the 2 sets of outside doors open & being outside as much as possible. My DS (10) has been fine with the adjustments.

Yes I'm sending 8yo for 2 days this week as he's currently on day 12 of 14 day quarantine (confirmed case in his school bubble).

We are all going stir crazy as we decided to take extra precautions and all of us joined him.

Same as PP - temp checks at the door. Adults in PPE & parents not aloud inside. All booking & payments online. Pack lunch as usual, taking bottles of water with him (different).

It's slightly more expensive than usual, presumably because they have fewer spaces & higher costs to keep COVID safe
