To ask how much you earned from a MLM?

Not because I’m thinking of joining - I’ve read Elle Beau’s blog! But because I’ve had about ten people (no joke) message me over the last 2 weeks. Distant family members, ex colleagues and people I have on Facebook but haven’t spoken to for years!

I’ve been offered the body shop, Essens, FM perfumes, younique (which I didn’t even realise is still going!), some form of weight loss stuff and skin care stuff.

My sister in law is selling the perfumes. She’s just posted on Facebook that her extra income has paid for a new sofa yet I know her mom and dad brought it for her Confused

So I was just wondering how much do these people actually earn? I can’t see her selling enough perfumes to pay for a £1000 sofa!! Grin

99% of people in mlms lose money. Absolutely awful, predatory companies the lot of them.
Forever shite are known for targeting those suffering with illnesses. Despicable, and those involved should hang their heads in shame.

I suspect the ones who make a lot of money are in the minority and there's a lot of exaggeration and "how great is my life?!"

I still use a Pampered Chef measuring jug/mixing bowl combo which must be about 15 years old. I went to the PC “party” not realising it was a sales pitch and awkwardly chose one of the cheapest things I could find.
What about Neals Yard - is that a MLM? A friend sells but does get good discounts for me and I like the products. She has never tried to recruit anyone else as far as I know.

Years ago one of the other mums in the playground I knew made thousands doing ann summers parties. She was very outgoing and pushy so a natural at sales. Unfortunately she was also claiming tax credits and housing benefit so had to pay a lot back when someone reported her.

@maireas

Probably Tupperware!

God I miss those parties! Don't get at all now. Sad

I had salons for years so I have had Virgin Vie - fabulous makeup and easy sell Neals Yard - great products and easy sell and Tropic - not great in my opinion. I only used it to boost sales and get freebies from which worked well for me but I didn’t recruit anyone although my friend from Virgin Vie did make £50k plus a year but she was hard core seller and recruited a lot plus parties gatherings all the time

I did Juice Plus. I don't think I made any money. I felt bad misleading people when I could see the science didn't add up myself. And a tiny bit of me died every time I said 'hun' .....

While I was having a wax a few years ago, the beautician told me she oils she sold could ease my son's Autism.

It put me off paying to have my legs waxed and I bought an epilator and never looked back 😂

There's current a petition going to ban MLMs in the UK. It's on the MN petitions board, or if you google, it can be found on the Government petitions page. It's not mine, but it looks like it was only started recently and has about 850 signatures, so please everyone, help to get it going. I'm not allowed to post links here apparently.

I feel like a right grinch. We have a school uniform FB page for buying and selling of secondhand uniform. The admin has asked if we'd be ok with parents advertising their businesses up to Christmas and I appear to be the only one to say that I'd rather keep it to its original purpose thanks Blush.

Everyone else said that no we should support school parents and their businesses in these hard times. I have no problem in having businesses there that are genuinely independent- my friend has started a very successful business in personally named decorations from scratch - but for every one of those there will be three MLMs with nobody making profits except the company and those at the top.

Fresh out of uni 10 years ago and desperate for a job, I got an interview in Liverpool, no idea what it was as the job description is a bit fluffy. Turned out to be a MLM.
You would be sent anywhere within the northwest (at yor own expense) to go door to door & businesses trying to sell make up brushes (from the make up artist from sex and the city) i can't remember what they sold for, about £20-30 & you kept about £5 of it.
You had to be extremely good at selling to make anything after travel costs & food. And I was out the house for about 13hrs the first day.
The offices were very americanised, where you would have a exercise in the morning with lots of practices sales pitches that were very over the top, lots of clapping, wooping & high fives
Safe to say I didnt go back for a 2nd day!
