Self isolating if no contact from T&T?

DD has been contacted by her sports club to say that she’s been in contact with someone who has tested positive for covid. But she hasn’t heard from NHS test and trace.

I’m assuming she has to SI regardless (although the contact was outside and not “close”). Or should she not?

She may not have been close enough to be a close contact. How long ago did the contact take place? I'd be careful for a couple of days longer, but not SI in your situation.

T&T is completely shit and are not managing to get in contact with the majority of people who need to self isolate. I would just do ad the sports club request. Better safe than sorry.

Test and Trace are failing to contact at least 40% of the people needed. The responsible thing, unfortunately, is likely to be to self isolate.

Perhaps you can call back to confirm what type of exposure this was? They obv can't give names, but it would be helpful to know if it was someone on the neighbouring pitch or part of a group she sat indoors with for 30 minutes when it was raining.

She was in a boat with the positive person for a lengthy rowing outing. Outside all the time, with backs to each other, and very windy, but probably counts as “close contact” alas.

That's closer contact than most of us have had with people recently (and I'm self isolating because someone who followed the rules still caught it and I spent about five minutes with them around 6 foot away trying to ignore the current heavy feeling in my head )

I'd say SI. It's better than coming down with it in a couple of days after having the opportunity to spread it around a bit.

Yes, fair enough.

I think the fact that the sports club know who was there and is contacting attendees counts as a track and trace organisation. It's not just NHS doing it. I had to self isolate last week after a similar sort of contact. It's a nuisance, but them's the rules.
