Do you get anxious over the thought of eating high calorie food?

I've been in the process of losing some weight. I've only lost about 10 pounds so far, not a huge amount. I'm now the very top end of the healthy weight range and want to lose another 15/20 pounds.

I've found that recently, when faced with the idea of going to a restaurant or ordering a takeaway with friends etc., I feel really quite anxious. This is only the case when I think about the prospect of eating pizza or another high calorie food.

I've still been making attempts to have this food, just in small amounts, because I want this weight loss to be long-term and don't want to cut out any foods altogether. But this anxious feeling is weird.

Do you get it too? I'm wondering if maybe this is just something that all those who have to work to stay slim/ a healthy weight feel. Maybe this is the body's way of regulating weight and ensuring we don't over-eat?

@KeepSmiling89

ME! I was proud of myself as I lost 2 stone about 5-6 years ago...then I got together with my now DH. I've put all that weight back on! Change of job and lifestyle was a big impact.

Whenever DH mentions an unhealthy meal (he suggested sausage, egg and chips last night for example) I go into panic mode as I know its full of fat and I'll feel crap after eating it (more psychologically but also a bit physically too...salt and fat...argh!) However, I smile and agree as I can't think of anything else to be honest.

KeepSmiling89 been there, done that with my late DH.

But I had sausage, egg and chips the other day and I am counting calories, Two low fat sausages 209 cals, McCain microwave chips 154, 1 egg 79, spray oil 10 = 452 calories. I have lost almost 3 stone by reducing portion sizes, weighing everything and not banning any food I fancy.

Definitely, but then again I have suffered alternately from anorexia, BED and bulimia since 1993. For me the first sign of anorexia was high calorie food phobia to the point that anything (even salads) not cooked by me would cause me anxiety.

Yes, have experience of this (binge eating issues).

Much depends on frequency of these events though. Eg if meals out / takeaways are occasional it’s unlikely to make a difference to weight loss, once or twice a week could.

IME it can help to look at the menu and plan choices in advance.

I've lost a stone over the past 8 weeks by predominantly being very careful about what I eat.

Prior to this I never gave calorie content a second thought - hence I was overweight.

Now I definitely feel extreme guilty if I eat anything high calorie

I don't worry about this, no.
Not even when I was on steroids, there's probably other things I worry about that others don't though.
