I know if I want a straight answer I will get get it here, have you ever tried a diet pill?did it work?

I'm only considering it and looking for reviews and opinions before I decide anything!

I took lots of 'pills' in the 90s, they sure killed my appetite Grin

What kind of pill do you mean? If you're thinking of buying them off the internet, don't do it for god's sake - you'll be sold aspirin or even worse, ones that contain speed that will give you a heart attack.

Orlistat has a good success rate, but won't help without strict diet control. How have you got on with diet changes?

Appetite suppressants aren't prescribed anymore for good reason.

I took some that I got from a high-street health food shop. They made me so ill I had to take time off work (which is one of only a few times I've ever been off work sick in my life).

Please don't take anything not prescribed for you OP! Diet pills (the ones bought online) may seem like an easy harmless fix, but that can be incredibly dangerous. I understand how hard it is to lose weight but it's so much better to focus on healthy eating habits and exercising and it taking a little longer longer, than potentially killing yourself with pills.

DNP is commonly found in diet pills, it works by affecting oxidative phosphorylation in the mitochondria which ultimately stops ATP (the energy currency of the body) from being produced. Instead of ATP being made, heat is produced. If you have a little bit too much of this substance you can literally "burn up" from the inside out. It's a truly horrible way to die and there have been many high profile cases over the last few decades.

Yeah don't do it! I lost loads of weight but my hair fell out & has never been the same since!

wishthiswasreallife · 20/10/2020 20:09

Oh lord 6 comments is all it's taken to put me right off!I will not be trying any that's for sure!!just so fed up I feel like i have something wrong with my mind that makes me binge or starve I go for a whole day not eating then binge then the same the next day I'm so depressed with it!

Don't do it.

DNP works but is very dangerous. Strong appetite suppressants (i.e. stimulants work) but make you feel like shit. I haven't tried Orlistat but by all accounts it is easier just not to eat the fat.

Interfering with your body chemistry, needlessly, is never going to end well. My mother spent much of the the 1960s necking diet pills to fit into the fashions of the decade. It completely messed her up and is, I am convinced, one of the reasons she became diabetic.

I prefer to do it the hard, but safe, way: watching what I eat and exercising.

Don't do it. Being thin in a casket or hooked up to life support isn't worth it.
