Any tips for a Halloween party for a family of five?

Just us, kids are 12, 13 and 15. They are very disappointed the Halloween is effectively cancelled. Was hoping we could have a little party for the five of us (it's going to be shit, isn't it). Anyway, any ideas? I'll make us a fancy meal, do apple bobbing (if I can drum up enough enthusiasm). I'll get some sweets and need a fun way to dish them out. Any ideas how I can make it not completely dismal?

I have some ping pong eye balls and Halloween cups from home bargains and we are going to play a game like beer pong, also hang a doughnut from a string in a door way and you have to eat it without touching it with hands, we used to play it with apples, but my kids are little so we we use doughnuts, we are also going to do a terror hunt instead of a treasure hunt. As well as a movie and some baking of cookies with teeth.

Oh no, it's rubbish for kids this year. As they're a bit older, maybe you could treat them to a more grown up Hallowe'en movie, something a bit spooky with some nice food. Other than that I couldn't think of anything, sounds like you have everything pretty covered. Maybe pumpkin carving, I saw some little pumpkins in Asda that could be really cute to carve one each for display.

Mine are younger but I’m planning a Halloween treasure/challenge hunt - Bob for an apple with a clue on the bottom, hunt for bits of a clue in slime, find clues by torch light etc

We’re doing a Stranger Things theme which might be good for those ages. Each dressing up as a character (a lot of them wear ‘normal’ clothes so don’t need to buy much/anything extra). Having a waffle station and maybe an ice cream station. There’s lots of free stuff on Pinterest you can print, like the Missing posters from the show and also ways to make the Upside Down if you’re creative. If you have any similar lights, that could be good. There are music playlists of the soundtrack and then we’re going to watch some of it. Could be good for teens but obviously doesn’t work if you don’t like Stranger Things Smile

Thanks for the ideas.
Most years we have a Halloween party (with friends) and then go trick or treating. Obviously none of that is happening this year.
They've never watched Stranger Things but I might try that as a theme anyway.
I fear it's going to be so shit they won't even want to come to my crappy 'party' anyway and would rather just sit on their phones. So annoying that for the first time I can remember, Halloween if on a Saturday night as well!

We are doing a spooky film, pizza and Halloween treat night. M&S have some quite good sweets - jelly brains, skulls and bones and bat shaped crisps etc.

One of my children is only young so we are going with a spooky movie but you could probably go a bit scarier at their age.

Home bargains have a few games, Halloween beer pong type things, a wheel of fortune with some nice and some horrible flavoured sweets for £1.99 too.
