Help! I am mother of the bride on Saturday and have a boil...

On my face! I never get boils, rarely get spots, but had a poo covered child scratch me 10 days ago (work in special ed) and I suspect despite scrubbing my face, bacteria got in.
I've TCP=d it, Germoline-d it. The chemist didn't have any magnesium sulphate paste. I actually rang the GP who has prescribed antibiotcs to pick up tomorrow as it could be nasty. Is there anything else I can do to try and make it less angry til the meds kick in?!

Hot flannel to draw it to a head?

Impatientwino · 19/10/2020 20:17

Fucidin cream - might need it prescribed but it's amazing and clears stuff up so fast

Impatientwino · 19/10/2020 20:18

Yes just checked and it's prescription only but it really is brilliant and works so fast!

Sudocream?

mnahmnah · 19/10/2020 21:20

Sudocrem!

EffYouSeeKaye · 19/10/2020 21:25

Not sudocrem. It is comedogenic. Whatever it may or may not do to the boil, it will clog your other pores and cause more painful spots to appear.

Metanium nappy rash cream is my miracle cure for spots

NoBloodyFighting · 19/10/2020 21:46

Wasn't there a thread on s&b suggesting a colloidal plaster for beastly spots/boils? I can't do links but you can pick these up in pharmacies & supermarkets, just need to leave one on overnight iirc

PurpleDaisies · 19/10/2020 21:48

Am I the only one who thought that “having a boil” meant a family argument?

I agree with mag sulphate and photo please!

Sunnydaysstillhere · 19/10/2020 21:52

Ibuprofen gel will help with inflammation

TreacleMoon123 · 19/10/2020 23:57

Use Epsom salts to draw it out.

Clareflairmare · 20/10/2020 00:06

100% Magnesium sulphate paste, can get it from any pharmacy or online. It’s a drawing agent so will make it form a head. Put in on overnight with a plaster and repeat.

Face mask Grin

Revolution overnight small white bottle has always worked for me

thegcatsmother · 20/10/2020 18:23

Scream works on adult ds's zits, and it worked on mine, just on the spot itself, rather than liberally smeared.

thegcatsmother · 20/10/2020 18:23

Sudocreme not scream

TerribleCustomerCervix · 20/10/2020 18:30

Boring I know, but don’t touch it!

Let the antibiotics do their thing, you’ll only risk making it angrier or a gaping hole in your face while it heals if a DIY lancing goes wrong.

Is your DD using a makeup artist? If so I’d see if I could squeeze in to get a professional cover up for the day itself.
