How to get used to a word I hate?

There is a very common word in English that I can't stand. It makes me shudder when I hear it.

Unfortunately, the word is very common name in everyday English (similar to Sarah, Rachel, etc.), so i have to hear it fairly often.

The word isn't my name, but it was a nickname people gave when bullying me, which is why I shudder when I hear it.

Is there any effective way of getting used to a word you hate? I really want to move passed this.

Talking therapy helped me.

Look up cognitive behavioural therapy. It’s supposed to help you manage your reaction to specific triggers.

Own it. Use it in order to desensitise

Rosie?

I knew a Rosie at work once who had flushed cheeks and if im honest i always assumed it was bold blush! She just came out with it during break one day, and told me she was bullied with her name and rosie cheeks. I think we was speaking about her son having issues with a bully if i remember correctly.

She was a very beautiful person, the standard great teeth huge smile, big blue eyes long blonde hair softly spoken the lot. Her personality made her even prettier, i just always assumed she liked blush!

I think talking about it more with peers friends and family may help you normalize it, its hard. You could do therapy but if it came from bullying id worry digging deeper could find more issues you withhold

I hope you manage to overcome it, no one deserves to be bullied and i wish people understood how it takes you to adult hood

Use it to name you next child. You'll learn to love it then. Grin
