Nutella sandwich
Bar of dairy milk
Pot of joy
2 custard creams
Cheese string.

Dd asked me if she could have a big chocolate bar in her lunch box. I said no so she declared that Chloe gets all of the above.

I didn't believe her at first but when dd said at the school gates ' my mum doesn't believe you get a whole chocolate bar for lunch'
Chloe nodded and showed me the contents. Her mum stood smiling and nodding and I felt embarrassed.

I didn't really know what to say so just laughed and said goodbye to dd then walked off.

Would you feed your dc that?

Not being rude but parent your own kid.

Wish there was a MN clapping emoji

This is what I wanted to say, I was just being polite.

How does help the teacher, class and your child when they have sugar rush behaviour and energy peaks and crashes while in school in the afternoon?

I have honestly never noticed this in any class I have taught Confused

DD doesn't get a "sugar rush". Easy solution.Grin

Next month school will do hot meals again so it will all be fine.

@DianaT1969

Crisps, White bread, An innocent smoothie is 28g sugar (31% sugar), A cake or chocolate bar, A handful of grapes, An apple.

So not much sugar in that meal, then?

I am probably 5 times the bodyweight of your 8/9/10 year old DC. If I ate all that sugar in one meal (with white bread too) I'd definitely feel ill. If I ate it 5 days a week I'm pretty sure I'd have diabetes in no time.

People don’t understand sugar do they though?. I’ve know who have jam with breakfast, fruit with lunch and high sugar low fat yoghurts as pudding, a spoon of sugar in each hot drink but in their minds hardly eat sugar.

I would point out to your dd that although the friends lunchbox looks ‘cool’ and yummy it is a fact really unhealthy. This kid is likely to end up overweight and ill if this is whet they are being conditioned to eat every day. Their mum is not doing them any favours at all. Point out that you are gaining your child food for energy and brain development. She may not like it but in time she will recognise that what this friends mum is doing is bad parenting. I would also point out that your dd shouldn’t judge or necessarily point this out to her friend. Each to their own.

I have added pots of joy to my Tesco delivery. They do bubbles of joy and layers of joy too!

SunbathingDragon · 24/10/2020 14:39

@hedgehogger1

I love a pot of joy
Same! Might have to add a few to my shopping list now. Grin

OMG.
As upthread I added pots of joy to my Tesco's order. They substituted 2 rolo pots for the 4 pots of Joy. I had planned on sharing them with the home bound teens, but wasn't prepared to give all the chocolate away and 2 little pots wasn't ever going to work. So. I. Ate. Them. Both.
My teeth actually hurt afterwards.
