Local authority ignoring me?

We are moving house in less than a month. We now have a tenancy agreement. I want to apply for an in year place for my eldest. I rang the local authority, was on hold for ages eventually spoke to someone in school admissions who said they couldn’t tell where had the right year groups places as they had no access to the system but to email instead. That was 10 days ago. I’ve sent a chasing email. That has also been ignored but not bounced back and no out of office.

I just want to know which local schools are realistic before applying for places. If they continue to ignore my emails and refuse to provide information on the phone, would I be justified making a complaint?

I have, of course rung some local schools but they say the local authority deals with it and I need to speak to them.

Any tips?!

It's not unusual for a LA to have a two week response time on queries. They're not ignoring you, just prioritising work. Give them a call on Monday to confirm receipt of your email.

Goodness! Can you imagine that in any other sector. I say that as a teacher who certainly has to prioritise. Surely school admissions team should prioritise schools admissions? Confused A simple one line response that they received an email would be fine to know it’s a least it is ‘in the queue’.

Thanks for your advice though, much appreciated.
