Deary me.

Birthday party

Police turned up kicked them out. They then went round and egged and floured the neighbours house who they suspected of calling the police. Egged neighbour then back to party house and kicked off.

I just love the drama Mick!

Many people on mumsnet firmly believe in keeping their beak out of others business. Don’t grass on anyone ever for any reason. Ever.

Personally I believe that if people are stupid and it affects nobody fine to keep your beak out.

However when it comes to things like potentially spreading a virus which kills (my colleague is dead of Covid) something needs to be done to prevent the spread as there are too carriers with no symptoms and I think that’s part of the problem, you don’t know you’ve got it.

So I agree with the grasser on this occasion. I also agree with the dude that was egged I’d have gone radio rental too!

@MrMeSeeks

feel for her and I'm not saying she deserved it (when i say this) im just giving the facts, that's what happens to snitches

What are you a child? That’s what happens to snitches?? Is that what you teach kids, you snitch on people you get hurt or property damaged?
Fantastic.Hmm

My thoughts exactly @MrMeSeeks
Babdoc · 18/10/2020 11:57

Report the attack to the police as well. They need to go and interview the culprits, so they know they can’t just get away with threatening behaviour and criminal damage.
What contemptible people they must be - not only to risk lives and health, but to attack the neighbours who quite rightly reported them.
Anyone decent would either not have had the party in the first place, or been suitably penitent when caught. The attack shows they don’t give a shit about anyone but themselves. I’m sorry you have such vile neighbours, OP.

wanderings · 18/10/2020 11:57

Perhaps Saint Boris the Bellend told them to do it, in order to keep the flour and eggs economy going, as he's set on decimating just about everything else.

It would be just like him to shoot himself in the foot thus, as he encouraged the public (or his puppet-master Cummings made him say it) to be grasses and snitches.

Porridgeoat · 18/10/2020 12:01

It takes a village to raise a child - so yes the community who can see the bigger picture need to be proactive with such issues

cherrybun01 · 18/10/2020 12:04

I think people are missing the point of what a PP was trying to say. I completely agree with them - it's all well and good encouraging people to tell the police on their neighbours etc. but they dont have to deal with the fall out.

I have awful neighbours, they row constantly, screaming, smashing things up etc. and have had the police called on them before (not by myself) and their rows have woken me up many times in the early hours. I have contemplated ringing the police myself before but have thought otherwise because I dont fancy the comeback that'll certainly be heading my way if they found out it was me. its not like this everywhere, but it's how it can be out in the real world.

rorosemary · 18/10/2020 12:04

@Awwlookatmybabyspider

I bet the police were there in 2 minutes flat. Have they not got bigger things to worry about ie rapes and murders ect
It's hard to rape and murder from 6 ft distance.

Sorry, couldn't resist a bad joke. I would seriously not be surprised if there were less rapes because people meet up less (since most rapes are by someone you already know).

Egg and flour out to help out

This....

FixTheBone · 18/10/2020 12:06

The 'don't snitch' brigade are morons.

We're in the middle of a situation that has literally destroyed our way of life across the entire planet, for 9 months precisely because of people who 'know best' or just want to mind their own business. The whole point is everyone has to pulling in the same direction for the legislation to work.

This isn't someone smoking a bit of weed in the back garden, letting their 17 year olds have alcohol or any of the other trivial bullshit that people get so worked up about on these fora, it's potentially everyone's livelihoods, way of life, even survival for the foreseeable future that's at stake because the pricks next door think their social lives are more important.

rorosemary · 18/10/2020 12:07

I wouldn't snitch but my DH would. Regardless of hiw you feel about snitching they shouldn't have egged the house. They were in the wrong in the first place.

Sarahsah4r4 · 18/10/2020 12:07

But they don't have to deal with the fall out
Yes, the antisocial dysfunctional types whose behaviour warrants complaint will have antisocial and dysfunctional responses when you dobb them in☹️

NeonGenesis · 18/10/2020 12:10

that's what happens to snitches

Are you one drug peddling kids from The Wire?

BloggersBlog · 18/10/2020 12:11

I dont want to be "that" neighbour

I dont want to be "that" parent

I dont want to be "that" employer

I dont want to be "that" blah/blah

= continued lockdown

Be that neighbour/parent/employer or this whole situation will never end

StealthPolarBear · 18/10/2020 12:12

It really is not the public's fault. I agree with all the public health advice in that image but NOT the overall message.

Mummyoflittledragon · 18/10/2020 12:13

This is the sort of reaction you’d expect from kids. My dd is 12 and kids hate snitches. Fully grown adults? Fgs grow up and obey the rules. Not that I’m saying I’d call the police for a small party.

ShowOfHands · 18/10/2020 12:14

@Awwlookatmybabyspider

Surprisingly @Awwlookatmybabyspider different police officers deal with different issues. Don't worry, the major investigations team who deal with rape and murder aren't wandering around door knocking to find 7 people socialising. And they are quite good at prioritising so a major crime in progress won't be ignored by people trained to distribute resources effectively.

There is a pertinent discussion to be had about valuable uses of police time but it's a common misconception that the police are one homogeneous squirming mass. I see it weekly on FB with people whining about the police with their speed traps not having enough murderers to catch. Oddly, they're traffic police, they police traffic.

HandsFaceSpace · 18/10/2020 12:16

Nicely put

“In situations like this where people are angry and stressed they tend to default to black and white thinking and knee-jerk reactions, unfortunately this means shoot the messenger and snitches will get stitches☹️“

TerribleCustomerCervix · 18/10/2020 12:16

The “snitches get stitches” isn’t a childish untruth ffs.

There’s parts of where I live that it would be absolutely not worth your while reporting a neighbour for even fairly serious crimes, never mind a lockdown infraction.

You might be on the moral high ground of being in the right, but when your tyres got slashed/garden wall graffitied/ dog shit put through your letterbox, it’s not worth it.

It’s all well and good when you know the worst your own neighbours are likely to give you is a dirty look when you next see them in Sainsbury’s, but for a lot of people it’s a real risk reporting anyone to the authorities.

MrsJunglelow · 18/10/2020 12:20

I think there are some very naive (and rude!) people on here, calling us ‘morons’ and such Hmm

The reality is there are an awful lot of people out there who will react to complaint in a completely over the top, often violent fashion.

Do I think it acceptable that a neighbour had her house egged?
Absolutely not!
But am I surprised?
No, I’m not.
As a PP said, ‘antisocial, dysfunctional’ types whose behaviour warrants complaint will have anti social and dysfunctional responses.

Userzzz · 18/10/2020 12:20

Meh, they shouldn’t be calling the police on people.

Echobelly · 18/10/2020 12:22

I wouldn't blame anyone for having one household over once in a while, and I doubt many people at all would report someone for that. But I think it totally is people's fault if they have house parties with multiple households. No one can pretend they thought that was OK - it's a conscious decision to not give a shit about others and an insult to people who have not seen their friends and family.

Essex16 · 18/10/2020 12:22

Did this neighbour actually cal the Police though?

TBH, the party neighbours sound horrible, glad I don’t have neighbours like that!

WhatamessIgotinto · 18/10/2020 12:25

All these adults referring to 'snitches' is just downright embarrassing.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/10/2020 12:28

My neighbours and I have suffered constant noise and sleep deprival because of the party house down the road. Quite frankly the ban on parties has been an absolute godsend for us

I was thinking exactly the same thing!
