What alcoholic drink do you drink when out?

When I’m in I don’t really drink - maybe the odd glass of Prosecco. I don’t really go out anymore but went out last night and drank vodka and orange but only had two and started to feel the effects. Next time I’m going to drink something else but not sure what I fancy. What do you drink?

It depends on who I'm with, I know that probably sounds strange, but with some friends we'd share a bottle of two or rose.

With another friend I'd drink lager and stay on rounds, also pink gin and lemonade with another.
Also I like a koppaberg from time to time as well!!

Polkadotties · 17/10/2020 17:10

White wine, g&ts, vodka and Diet Coke or lemonade. Partial to an occasional pornstar martini

LtJudyHopps · 17/10/2020 17:11

Out with a friend - wine
Out with DP - usually a cocktail. Otherwise gin & tonic Gin

Terrace58 · 17/10/2020 17:16

If there is a cocktail menu with enticing descriptions, I generally order one of those. Otherwise just a glass of red wine.

BlusteryShowers · 17/10/2020 17:18

Last night I had a pornstar martini then went on to rose.

In the summer I like a bottle of Peroni or gin and tonic

In the winter I like wine.

@CeramicGuineaPig

White wine please. Which one? Oh I don’t know, what do you have, maybe a Pinot Grigio, yes that’s fine, thank you. Oh, large please.

I could do this in perfect stereo with you Smile 🥂

I do like a G&T or a Bloody Mary sometimes too.
Or a pint of dry cider if I'm thirsty.

BarryTheKestrel · 17/10/2020 17:21

Pale ale if just at a pub for a couple. Gin and lemonade or orange juice if in for the long haul. Fruity cider or pimms in the summer. More than 1 glass of wine and I'm done for so generally reserve that for with a meal only.

@Cavagirl

My name says it all Grin

So does mine Grin

I drink wine as well, but not necessarily in the same evening.
Hoctober · 17/10/2020 17:24

A large dry white.

But only one. Possibly two. Because everyone knows that pub wine is stronger than home wine.

Pieceofpurplesky · 17/10/2020 17:26

Vodka lime and soda or vodka and cranberry

Gin if they have a good one

Wine with a meal

Ariela · 17/10/2020 17:26

Tall glass with ice. Shot of dark rum (Lambs, Captain Morgan is fine nothing fancy) , diluted with a shot of lime, and a bottle of orange juice and a bottle of ginger ale. Refreshing too, and not overly alcoholic. Is best on a hot day but works well any time of year, it also lasts a long time if spacing out your drinks due to the ice & 2 bottles diluting it well.

(I used to work in a pub in my 20s where there was a large contingent of lads whose families hailed from Jamaica, Barbados etc. This was one lad's favourite, if he was driving he ditched the rum, it is just as nice without)

Sheknowsaboutme · 17/10/2020 17:28

Gin
Beer

DivisionBelles · 17/10/2020 17:32

Pint of lager if I'm feeling thirsty. Dry white wine or gin and tonic otherwise. I'm not really into drinks that are too sweet, but I am partial to an Espresso Martini on occasion.

youdidask · 17/10/2020 17:33

Coots light, cobra, cider, crabbies, rum and coke.
Never ever wine

WankPuffins · 17/10/2020 17:33

Pints of lager.

I used to drink glasses of wine to be all polite and lady like, but one day thought “fuck that”. I don’t even like wine.
Never looked back.

Ilovesausages · 17/10/2020 17:34

Another fruit cider fan here.

Or a lager top.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 17/10/2020 17:34

Usually wine - white on warm days, red on cold. Occasionally a gin and tonic but they don't make them strong enough for me. Blush

Kangaroo1 · 17/10/2020 17:35

White wine or gin and lemonade

PenguinsOnParade · 17/10/2020 17:35

White wine unless the only choice is Chardonnay and then I'd be more likely to drink a lager or a Jack Daniels and Coke.

EternalOptimist7 · 17/10/2020 17:44

My post disappeared! For years I have only really drunk white wine when I’m out, especially as pub wine has improved loads from those dusty dispensing bottles hanging upside down behind the bar! I like cocktails, gin & tonic, Southern Comfort & lager too.

ShopTattsyrup · 17/10/2020 17:45

Hot day sat in a pub garden - lager or cider.
Any other time - G&T.
Meal out in a restaurant - dry white wine.

Franticbutterfly · 17/10/2020 17:50

Hendricks and Elderflower tonic; Aperol spritz; Vodka, lime and soda; IPA; red wine (depends where I am really).

That sounds YUM. Definitely going to try that when we ever get to go to pubs again.

OP, thanks for asking. Often I'll drink red, but right now, I really fancy a pint of bitter. Good, northern bitter. (It's generally much nicer and better kept than southern beer. Although I do make exceptions for London Pride, which I like)
So I'll have a pint of stones, please.

Thank you
HoldMyLobster · 17/10/2020 18:05

I love a cocktail menu.

My current favourite is a Pisco Sour.

I also love an Old Fashioned or a Manhattan. I'm going to get a Sazerac next time we go out.

On a cold day I'll have a Dark and Stormy.

I have one, maybe two, then go home happy. I'm at the stage where enough of my children drive that I never have to. Life is good.
