I’m trying to cut my food bill in half.
We are a family of 4 (3 adults and a 16 year old) and at the moment we spend £500-£600 a month on food.

I’ve been advised to shop at Aldi, so what would you recommend, and what would you stay away from?

So glad they do fish, I’m getting excited to try it now.

So basically everything is ok except fruit, veg, Mayo and frozen meals.

How much do people generally save from shopping there?

Why wouldn’t they do fish?

The pesto is a bit ropey. They do a trio selection pack of humus which is fab. They also do that thing where they stock different stuff in different shops depending on the demographic (DH works for them), so you might not find everything you’ve heard about on here. Or you might find more!!

I should say that the new barista style decaf coffee is SO much better (IMO). I'm not sure why I thought back to the old one!

Ooh, thanks @diege Good to know.

I don't find the fresh stuff goes off any more quickly than from Tesco etc. I actually think everything from there is great but the things we go to Aldi specifically to buy are:

Norpack softest butter
Fillet steak
Fajita kits
Root vegetable crisps
Ready made lasagne
Spicy bean burgers (frozen)
The flatbread style pizzas (frozen)
Cold pressed rapeseed oil
The thick sliced tiger style loaf in the brown paper bag
Decaf teabags
Nutty granola

I buy their smoked haddock. I don't shop in Morrison's (don't have one near me) so can't compare but it's totally fine in my opinion! Making fish and chips with their pre-packed basa as I write. (Haven't found fresh fish in mine actually, only pre-pack)

Aldi's sticky toffee pudding is devine. It's near the yogurts. Speaking of yogurts, their version of Muller lights are better than the real deal, especially thre strawberry flavour.

Their Eden Mill selection is incredible.
