All I do is drink wine and eat takeaways

Pretty much every night Sad

I’m getting fatter by the day but I’m also in a local lockdown area so there’s nothing else for me to do.

I’m really down about the fact I don’t have a partner/kids and I’m down about the fact I’m overweight.

Food and alcohol are the only things that make me happy at the moment and 6pm where I pour myself a large glass of wine and order a pizza is my relaxation time. I feel like if I gave this up I’d be utterly miserable, but I know I’m doing my body damage by carrying on like this.

Does anyone have any tips?

You can do this!!!!

Be strong OP! I know things like knitting / crochet have been mentioned but even something as easy as doing a jigsaw or some grown-up colouring keeps your hands and mind busy and passes time by quite nicely. A good book and a bubble bath does the same job.

When it comes to cooking can you find a good podcast on something you're interested in and listen to an episode each evening while you make yourself something nice? Being in the kitchen doesn't seem like such a chore when you're distracted (personally I enjoy one the comedy one that rips the AIBU board to shreds but fear I might get kicked off MN for saying that Wink)

@HowFastIsTooFast I reckon I’d love that podcast Grin what’s it called?

It's called You Are Being Unreasonable. I'm caught up on the old ones now so just have the new one every other week and I live for the day it's released 😂 It's a bit too 'woke' at times but funny enough to let that slide.

@HowFastIsTooFast oh my god that podcast sounds amazing!

OP, best of luck with dodging the cravings. Everyone's right, take a break from it if you can and distract yourself with other nice things – books, bath, face mask, hair mask, film night with healthy-ish snacks, social groups online, games, jigsaw puzzles. You need something else in your evenings that you look forward to. I spent a wonderful few weeks of lockdown binging Gilmore Girls while doing painting by numbers! I genuinely looked forward to packing up work and relaxing with a large cuppa.

Hope you're feeling better about it all soon Flowers

OP I sympathise, over the past year I have gained over a stone and a half and working from home I too had fallen into the trap of eating with abandon and drinking wine every night & was starting to feel really horrible about it and about myself.
I got a wakeup call when I saw a photo I didn't know was being taken and I actually didn't recognise myself. It was truly awful.
From that day I have taken things in hand and decided there and then it had to stop or else I had no way of knowing where it would stop at all...

I decided to break it down to 7lbs chunks and reward myself each time I reached that goal, estimating I need to lose about 2 + stones now.

I cut out all alcohol and crap - sweets / cake / chocolate / crisps and focus on 3 healthy meals each day.

I'm down 9lbs now and this is week 3 and I have ordered some beautiful leather winter boots online as my reward. Truth is I needed boots anyway but I 'allowed' myself a slightly nicer pair as I wasn't spending money on wine / takeaway / junk.

When I get to where I want to be weight wise I am going to treat myself to a beautiful necklace. I motivate myself by browsing gorgeous jewellery sites when I am weakening or bored.

If I'm tempted to snaffle something I mentally speak to myself and say 'no! remember how fabulous it will feel to fit into all your nice clothes and show off a FAB necklace' and that has been doing the trick so far.

I have a teen dc so not possible to eliminate all nice things but so far my resolve is good.

Wishing you luck!

Stick with it, OP. My top tip is slightly bizarre but here goes:

When I am making an effort to eat less rubbish, I make the time to put on nice body lotion after a shower because when applying it you notice how much better your body is looking and feel smug. Which really helps me to stay away from the Lindor. One of my teachers, years ago, used to say, “nothing succeeds like success!” and she was quite right.

Also, like other posters I cannot over-emphasise how good exercise is for mind and body. Good luck.
