Can I travel from a Tier 2 area to stay in a cottage?

I am so confused if this is allowed? Dp and I had planned to stay in an air bnb cottage ironically at Barnard Castle County Durham next week for a birthday. We would literally be chilling and eating in the cottage and walking the dog. We already live together. We were about to book it but I am seeing conflicting information about this and am unsure if this is allowed. Can anyone advise me please. Tia

The question asked was could they go with another couple, which they can't but can go alone.

Only if you're going to test your eyesight

We are tier 3 and have half term break booked in a tier 2 location but presumably can still go? It's not prohibited is it not that I can fathom anyway

Yorkie127 · 14/10/2020 19:55

@tortoiseshell1985 I think the government advice says not to travel out of tier 3 areas at the bottom of this page about travel: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/local-covid-alert-level-very-high and here:

https://liverpool.gov.uk/communities-and-safety/emergency-planning/coronavirus/local-restrictions-in-liverpool/

But to be fair it says 'advises not to' and 'try to avoid' Hmm

What does this even mean? There always has to be one Confused

@Cheeseandlobster the government advice for tier 2 says: You can still go on holiday outside of high alert level areas, but you must only do this with people in your household or support bubble.

So I think you can go...? There's possibly some advice to not travel but from an official perspective I think it's okay!

Technically we shouldn't go but just so desperate for a break...

Cheeseandlobster · 14/10/2020 20:13

@Yorkie127 with that user name you may even be near me Smile Its only my bubble of two. We dont intend to go anywhere aside from walks and we will do a food shop in our own area first so potentially not mixing with anyone else at all

😂😂 sorry! Made me laugh.

Yorkie127 · 14/10/2020 20:16

Yeah - we've got two weeks in blummin Northumberland in November just us - I so want a change of scene but don't actually plan to do much when we're there so I've got everything crossed that we stay in tier 2!

SandyGin · 14/10/2020 20:19

Our friends have just cancelled and refunded guests from Tier 3 who had booked to stay in their Tier 2 holiday cottage at half term. Guests not best pleased to say the least but our friends are following the advice and thinking of their neighbours, community and local services.

SandyGin · 14/10/2020 20:27

CoronalsWatching is just inviting us to have some more fun at Dominic Cummings expense. Quite right too. Perhaps he will travel there again to pay the family's outstanding Council Tax bill.

Cheeseandlobster · 14/10/2020 20:34

Doh. Its been a long day Grin

Too right, Cheese. They're all long days.

LilyLongJohn · 14/10/2020 20:36

We're in a tier 2 location and picking up a motorhome to travel to the highlands for two weeks, we rang the hire company and they said that is fine.

Purpledaisychain · 14/10/2020 20:37

@tortoiseshell1985

A lot of us are desperate for a break Hmm. Just imagine if you go on this holiday and manage to infect someone who is actually trying to follow rules/advice. And this person ends up seriously ill? All because you wanted a break?

I doubt we can go as probably have full lock down by then. Let's see where we are in a week or two then will decide.
