You can't go wrong with The Beano!

It's not a magazine subscription but your 5 yr old might enjoy it. UNICEF have teamed up with Paddington bear to send you postcards and activities from all over the world. Google it. I will be doing this for my 5 year old as I think she will really enjoy it and learn about different countries, animals, culture etc. Its £8 a month.

Thanks @Rory786 I'll have a look

@heymammy I don't know if he'd be into the beano as he doesn't know the characters

He loves the Cbeebies mag but I'm worried about accumulating plastic tat!

My ds loved Storybox from Bayard magazines at that age. He was less keen on Adventurebox, the one for slightly older kids, but he loved Storybox for years and years.

The national geographic kids magazines are great.
Also the voice is good for world events/news.

Thank you - okido and national geographic both sound good. He loves animals!
