Ingesting remnants of cleaning spray - what to do?

My husband is already on hold to 111 as I insisted that we ring and ask for advice.

This morning I sprayed my daughter's highchair down with method antibac cleaning spray. I left it on for a few minutes to work but forgot to wipe it down again.

This evening she sat up and ate her dinner mainly off the tray, including things that were wet like beans and strawberries. She had finished her dinner and had left a couple of pieces of strawberry so I decided to eat them and they tasted funny, like soap. Then I suddenly realised that I had forgotten to wipe the fluid off.

The tray looked dry when she was first sat at the table but I didn't really check, we just popped her in and got on with her dinner. Now I'm panicking that eating food covered in (even maybe dried up) remnants of spray will have hurt her. I wanted to call 111 but my husband thinks I'm being silly. WWYD?

Is it the horrible stinky rhubarb one? I imagine its the perfume that you tasted rather than any active anti-bac stuff.

@Bettyfromduggee oh yes, absolutely I’m suggesting people should spray antibac in their kids mouths 🙄

My point is what did you think 111 would say. Did you think there was any chance they’d ask you to bring in a perfectly healthy seeming child because she might have got some cleaning residue in her food? I’m really seriously curious as to what you though they would do. In fact what did they do, did they even call back??

Bettyfromduggee · 13/10/2020 13:13

I don’t know why you seem so angry @Fallowdeerhunter you seem to have been very upset by what was a fairly innocent question posted. I said several times that I’m sure she will be fine and I am maybe just being silly etc but this doesn’t seem enough for you.
Yes they did call back and I apologised to them if I was wasting their time and they said we had done the right thing by calling and that it depends on the product and it’s always best to check etc. They were very nice.
I’m not sure what you want me to say, do you want me to admit that I’m stupid and an idiot and have wasted tax payers money and time? That you are a superior human being because you wouldn’t have worried about something so ridiculous? That’s fine if that’s what you want.

Why would I be angry? I just genuinely wanted to know what outcome you thought ringing 111 would bring!

LittleBearPad · 18/10/2020 18:47

Goodness you’re grumpy OP.

I doubt 111 would say you’d wasted their time. It’s not on their scripts.

Tumbleweed101 · 18/10/2020 20:52

It will be fine as it's dry now. I think if it's still wet and newly sprayed it is more likely to cause a problem.

Hello!
I need some help. I have really bad health anxiety after having a brain tumour in 2019! And I convince myself I’m dying constantly!
today at 5pm I was cleaning a mirror using Morrisons glass cleaner and I had a can of drink near and some of the particles went into the drink. I took a swig, tasted funny so chucked the rest away. Now I’m in bed convinced I’m dying!!!! I just need people to give me a head wobble! It was 6 hours ago! I might need psychological help!
