Weird Things That Freak You Out

The Statue of Liberty gives me the heebie jeebies, I have no idea why but it makes my heart beat faster and I don’t like it. Any pictures of it and when I’ve seen it in real life make me feel uncomfortable.

Why is this?

I used to cry when my mum walked me past a Catholic Church, there was a shrine/statue of the Virgin Mary. I believed it was evil Shock

I still get very uncomfortable in people's houses when they have religious pictures/icons on the wall, I feel like they're judging me 😲

I can't talk to people in a mirror - like taxi drivers or hairdressers. I can't look them in the eye. Freaks me the Jeff out. I've never been able to. Face to face, fine, lots of positive feedback from interviews and delivering training about appropriate eye contact. In a mirror? Not a chance.

I feel this way about specific places & buildings, particularly buildings with peeling paint on the walls & rusty drainpipes. Also any building that's being rennovated or has got run down with pipes & cables & timbers exposed freaks me out. I can't even stick my head into our loft space- it's the insulation, the exposed rafters, ugh!

However, I have a morbid curiosity about urban exploration internet sites & spend hours looking at photos of decaying buildings. I've found photos of buildings I knew well when they were functioning, & it's like daring yourself to look at something a bit gruesome.

Could never go inside them though, too creepy.

I can't answer your question as to why. For me, I think it's the opposite of what makes me feel safe, so a crumbly house with its innards decaying is not where I'd feel comfortable.
