Insulated lunchboxes and lunch ideas!

So with a covid winter approaching we are thinking about taking hot lunches out with us. We've not done this before so I thought I'd start a thread for ideas.

What insulated pots do I want!? Single compartnent/double compartment/ single pots shared pots? What size do you use?

Any recommendations? I want it to last for a daytrip so happy to pay for the right one. I dont want it to go cold!

What do you put in them?

I have a big hot water flask we take separately but fed up of pot noodles.

In our case 2 of us might use them ovcasionally for work/school so might get 2 with that in mind but otherwise there are 4 of us and probably just need to be in the car so could have a larger one?

Presumabky carrying 4 is a bit much on a walk?

Im looking at the 2 thermos lunch pots at the moment, although cant visualise the volumes.

Also for 4 of us dont want to spend 20£ each!

Im invisiging bolognaise or chilli with crusty bread!

I was looking at the thermos ones, but ended up with a random brand from Home Sense.
In terms of size, a tin of soup is 400g so I figured the smaller thermos one would be too small.

The 2 appearing on my amazon are 470 or 710ml.

I think a tkn of soup is 382ml?

Oh there's a smaller one that i found.

They have similar dimensions with the one on the right being 4cm taller! I woild rather pay less if I can though!

I’ve used mine successfully for:
Risotto
Tagine, and a pitta bread taken separately
Falafel/lamb koftas in the food flask, and a wrap or pitta bread taken separately.
Chilli with a separate bag of Doritos
Curry with a separate naan bread or a packet of mini popadums to dip in it
Homemade pot noodle and ramen noodles
Pulled pork in the food flask, and a tortilla or soft rolls taken separately
Tuscan bean stew (with a ciabatta roll taken separately)

The thermos smaller one was 13.99 in Sainsbury’s a couple of weeks back.

Isn't it a bit dangerous eating food that's been kept warm.for hours?

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 11/10/2020 09:23

Ooh thanks countmeout I'll have a look.
Five more minutes that's a fab list.

Joystir. They're v popular so I'd hope not. I assumed it was kept hot rather than warm. Restaurants keep food hot for ages dont they?! I could happiky stick to veggie versions or soup but do fancy Fives list now.
