Is cycling good enough exercise?

I dont like keep fit classes online or in the flesh. Love running but get injured, no interest in anything else but I do enjoy cycling. If I did bike rides about 4 times a week for maybe 45 minutes a time would that be enough exercise?

It's usually recommended to have some weight bearing exercise as well as cycling

To start with yes, but then you would need to extend a couple of them so they are much longer once you get fitter.

I have brothers who are cyclists for fun and they disappear for up to 2.5 hours once a week plus 1.5 hour another time in the week. (In winter they use a trainer inside if it's dark for shorter times)

They find the issue with cycling clubs is the set off times are quite late in the morning for them so they tend to go on their own or with one other person.

Depends on the terrain, if it's flat, it will be barely any effort, you need to be riding up some hills that make you out of breath.

Unless you're time trialling of course, or bombing along at 40-50 mph on a long geared bike.

Enough for what? It's enough to meet activity guidelines and make you fitter than a sedentary person but it's not enough to turn you into an athlete or to make any difference to weightloss

The problem with always doing the same exercise is you only use the same muscles over and over again. I think with cycling you don't use one of the leg muscles (?) so you need to balance it out with something else. Have you tried Pilates with a suspension trainer? I don't like online or real classes and hate going to the gym but that you can do from home with an explanatory video so you can pause as you need to.
