If you have bought a condenser dryer in the last year would you recommend it or not?

Following on from my earlier post about my washing machine which takes hours to wash and great advice I received, I thought I would ask all the wonderful mumsneters for their recommendations for a good condenser dryer.

If you have bought a condenser dryer in the last year would you recommend it or not? Could you share the make and model number please. Ideally I’m looking for one which has a 8/9kg capacity and doesn’t take too long and most importantly actually dries all the clothes properly. I’ve just bought a Bosch series 4, but it doesn’t dry the clothes, just leaves them damp. Such a shame as my previous Bosch condenser dryer lasted over 15 years and was still working when we sold it.😬. I could put all my clothes in and it stopped automatically when they were all dry.

Is there any particular features I should be looking for?

This thread is quite old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’re looking for tumble dryers, we’ve recently updated our best tumble dryer page with lots of great options rated by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful.

Yes. I bought one a few months ago. It's a Bush 7kg condenser dryer and cost £180 from Argos. I'm loath to tumble dry anything unless I really have to but it does work very well and it has a light that comes on when I open the door at the end of the cycle, which due my being a boring old woman with a limited life I am very excited by :)

I have a Miele TDA 150 C dryer. it's only a 7kg load, but on it's automatic setting will dry a load in about 1 hour. You can plumb it into drain away, or just empty the condenser container. I fully expect it to last 20 years or so, about 1/4 of a way there so far.

I have a cheap Beko condenser, can't have a vented. It does the job. It does heat up the room too so the heat isn't "wasted".

I’ve got a Beko condenser drier that is 3 years old now and if it went wrong tomorrow I would replace it with another. We are an all electric house and our electricity bills are always higher in the winter but I have no idea how much the drier contributes to this
As things are I have an old washing machine that has a really efficient spin and the drier dries a load of towels in about 40 minutes so I have no complaints.
I am meticulous in cleaning the filter of fluff after every use, always empty the water tank and flush the other filter thingy under the shower every so often.

Beko 9kg condenser sensor dryer, B rated. I had the first one for 6 years, bought same one within the last year still cost same amount £260. I do put it on a lot due to DH's severe pollen allergies. No outdoor drying sadly.

I put it on at the same time as the next load of washing so it takes about 50 minutes to dry t shirts and school trousers as I can see how long is left on my washing machine as a reference. I have an 8kg washing machine.

Time wise this is about your washing machine spin speed. I had a 1200 Bosch, I now have a 1400 AEG. It made a difference in not only the time it takes to dry but also being able to just pull school shirts out of the dryer and hang them straight up.

Have Miele’s cheapest condenser... was pricey. It dries thoroughly and I like emptying the water tank... always amazed how much water comes out. I’m wondering if I could water the plants with it or would residual detergent kill them? Came with a fragrance pod which is badly designed and £10 each!!! Smelt nice but will not buy another! Blows out warm air from the bottom of the machine... very toasty on the toes. Quite noisy.
Same here. Grin 10 years and going strong.

We've got an Indesit 8kg and it's good. Towels take about 2 hours tho. It also makes a fair bit of noise. I think although I don't know that ordinary tumble dryers may be better but we cant have one here.

I put the water on plants. A florist I know said that the water would be ok

I have just replaced a 9 year old zanussi condenser with a Beko condenser. I love Miele and have a washer and dishwasher of theirs but I just couldn't afford it when my dryer broke. The Beko is amazing! I mainly use the eco setting and it's very efficient drying a mixed load in 40 mins. The sensor says they are dry and they are! It also has a much better system for holding onto the fluff and a top cassette for the water. All for £189. Not bothered about it not being Miele now I've seen it in action for the last few weeks

Bosch tumble dryer. Need to make sure full load otherwise comes out damp. Needs to go in again.
