Have you ever been mistaken for someone else?

When I was younger, I was mistaken for someone else on a few occasions. Once, the person looked clearly annoyed with me as I probably looked baffled. My DM told me that once she was travelling and saw a woman who looked just like her. Together they would look like sisters.
I have read that some strangers look very similar and some look nearly identical.

Yes, but I am a twin. I instinctively respond to her name and mine!

@Readandwalk

Many many people have told me I look like their grandmother. Different people for years. They usually add "from her younger photo".

So I have black and white sepia face.

I once had a chap in a lift at work adamant my name was Wendy and he'd met me on a course. Literally could not believe I wasn't Wendy, apparently we were that similar. He told me which department she worked in (very large office of 3,000 people) and I looked her up, and she looked/was about 20 years older than me, I was not impressed!

I was once at a party, and there were two guys there who were almost identical, I assumed they were twins or brothers, and kept mistaking one for the other all night. Until I realised one was English, and one was French....turns out they were not related at all and had never met each other before. Their mates had them posing together for pictures the likeness was that uncanny.

I saw the spitting image of my best friend at the Eurostar terminal in Paris - only about 20 years younger. It was weird.

My friend is eastern European but lived in France for a while.

She said a woman stopped her in the street convinced she was a certain Madame x and was very annoyed when she appeared not to recognise her.

I get mistaken for Margot Robbie all the time. It's so insulting! 😆

The lady in my local post office thinks I'm a dinner lady at her children's school and has done so for years. I used to tell her it wasn't me but now I just nod and smile.

12 years ago I had platinum blond hair and a fringe.

A little girl asked if I was Lady Gaga Confused

@EsterOdesavitch I had similar. There was a woman I used to see around my way every so often (maybe 3-4 times a year) She’d often wave and ‘hi Paula’ 😂 I’m definitely not Paula. I tried to correct her the first couple of times but gave up in the end and just started saying ‘hi’ back.

I just enjoy reading your experiences! Had a few good laughs Wine Mine were pretty boring. Maybe something exciting is still aheadGrin

I have always dreamed of seeing a person like me, but it seems impossible

I went in a charity shop once, the lady who worked there greeted me very cheerfully “hello! How are you?” I thought she was being lovely and polite to me, no one else in the shop, so just wanted a bit of general chit chat. She did the whole “are you looking for something in particular or just having a rummage?” and we chatted backwards and forwards for a bit. Then suddenly “and how’s your mum now?” 😳 I must have been like a rabbit in the headlights as I politely mumbled “oh yes, doing ok now thanks!” Then made my escape pretty quickly!
