Chromosomal Testing Risk

Daughter has had the news that the blood tests have raised the risk level to 7%. She is having CVS test tomorrow and is beside herself. In terms of risk factors, is this high?

Probably don't pass this on, but yes, unfortunately. She wouldn't be queued for a CVS test if there weren't high risk factors - normal risk for chromosomal abnormalities is about 0.2% for a mum in her mid-20s, 0.5% in her mid 30s.

But it's still 93% chance of being fine. Try not to pre-panic, it helps no-one.

Thank you @TheHighestSardine. She's only just 25 but she does have PCOS and associated insulin resistance.

I have read some encouraging papers on false positives with the blood tests and how they come about. I was wondering if anyone on here had experienced this and it all turned out fine in the end.

If it's a false positive on the bloods, the CVS test will come back okay and everyone can breath a sigh of relief. Fingers crossed for her tomorrow.
