Milk Frother

Hi,

Has anyone got a strong love of their milk frother and care to share the brand please?

I can't decide whether cheaper or expensive is best for something like this.

Thank you!

Had a nespresso one that broke replaced with an Aldi one that is fine!

This one. Bought it to use alongside my espresso maker which lacks the puff to froth a cappuccino.
If you use the minimum milk ( skimmed) you get the most solid whippy froth for your cappuccino, it’s nice and hot and effortless.

Thanks 😊 I would also like to make hot chocolate with it.

I have a Nespresso one, which has been going strong for 10 years. I make hot chocolate in it and it is lovely!

bruffin · 05/10/2020 07:57

I have had a cheap hand held and a morphy Richards that heats the milk as well
I really do like the heated one, really good for hot chocolate, but I think it is discontinued

Polkadotties · 05/10/2020 08:06

I have the smeg one. Love it.

elephantskiss · 05/10/2020 08:08

I have the Lavazza Modo Mio. Can attest to the fact it works perfectly for Oatly Barista as well as cow's milk.

MatildaonaWaltzer · 05/10/2020 08:12

Lavazza here too! It is utterly brilliant and I prefer it to the steamed milk that the new Jura all in one makes. It’s a fantastic gadget.

Binglebong · 05/10/2020 08:12

I got a cheap one from lidl (a jug one, not a hand held). It's brilliant but you do need that special buy to be in the Aisle of Doom.

BillyAndTheSillies · 05/10/2020 08:14

Nespresso aeroccino. Does either hot or cold frothing, so in summer amazing frappes with ice cold milk.

bookish83 · 05/10/2020 08:24

@BillyAndTheSillies

Frappes! I had no idea. Oh this thread is so helpful thank you

I've worked through all of them.

Nespresso

Lavazza

Aerolatte

Dualit jug foamer

Sold them all as none got the milk to the same heat point as a commercial coffee machine. This is where the caramelisation of the lactose in the milk happens, it's what charges the taste of your coffee from mediocre to amazing.

But, I found one! A home based machine that steams the milk.

Also a dualit.

IKEA do a great low budget one for the grand total of £1. We love it. You can buy it in the Marketplace.

nonsenceagain · 05/10/2020 09:29

The Lavazza is fantastic.

NoNameIdeas · 05/10/2020 09:32

We have the same one as @planningaheadtoday - it is amazing! Also have the hotel chocolat velvetiser which makes the best hot chocolate ever!

Feawen · 05/10/2020 10:42

I also have the Hotel Chocolat velvetiser, which I use to warm and froth milk for lattes, as well as to make delicious non-gritty hot chocolate. I’m sure there are cheaper options that would do the job, but I’m very happy with my velvetiser, it’s my most-used kitchen gadget after my coffee machine.

Pearl97 · 05/10/2020 10:48

I vote for the velvetiser too!

Whosthatgirlitsjess · 05/10/2020 10:57

@EmbarrassedUser thats what I use, I had a rubbish £25 milk frother and bought the one from IKEA for £1 as a temporary measure while I researched a better one and it is really good, i use it for ilk, hot chocolate, milkshakes, small amounts of cream to put on hot chocolate etc. Best quid I've ever spent!
