I love it except for the kitchen. That should have white washed walls, oak beams and an aga.

I bet it's haunted too.

RoSEbuds6 · 04/10/2020 14:02

I used to love that house when I was growing up, but it is on a corner plot by quite a busy road, so would be quite noisy.

lborgia · 04/10/2020 14:03

Just goes to show, money doesn't buy taste. That roof must've cost a bloody fortune. But palm trees?! Honestly, for the money spent, they would've been wise to spend a few hundred on a plan from a designer. What a shame.

MissMarplesHandbag · 04/10/2020 14:05

Pic 25 - the loo in the bedroom. Why? The room is big enough to put a proper door in. Not a poxy curtain!

GameSetMatch · 04/10/2020 14:08

I’m not keen at all, its a good job everyone has different tastes!

FatimaMunchy · 04/10/2020 14:11

Doesn't the Estate Agent say it has to be 'seen to be believed'? Are there other rooms they didn't dare photograph?

Defenbaker · 04/10/2020 14:11

I'm not keen on any properties with a thatched roof, so this wouldn't appeal to me, but there are some lovely features and I think it could be made really beautiful.

The stained glass wiindows are lovely, the rooms all seem spacious, and the garden is big enough to enjoy. It has a certain style about it.

happystory · 04/10/2020 14:14

Have driven past this house many a time and wondered what it was like inside!

Iola4 · 04/10/2020 14:19

Just seen that the bathroom behind the curtain has been mentioned! Brilliant.
I wonder did they feel the need to go 'open plan' with that room. Not the 'sexiest' or luxurious bathroom to suddenly make an entrance from.

EggysMom · 04/10/2020 14:24

Why is the bidet so far from the toilet in the other featured bathroom?

(Obviously wouldn't use the one in the bedroom, so I took more notice of the other bathroom!)

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 04/10/2020 14:28

Too much dark wood and the kitchen and bathroom are out of context.

FenellaVelour · 04/10/2020 14:30

It looks like a converted pub.

Legoandloldolls · 04/10/2020 14:36

Compared to my local house prices its incredibly cheap. That's my overall thought

1forAll74 · 04/10/2020 14:43

Yes, my type of house. The garden is great too, great collection of shrubs and trees and landscaping. Just needs to be more colour in the kitchen, but easily rectified.

coldgraybrix · 04/10/2020 14:52

I love an Arts and Crafts house. Not too sure the kitchen and bathroom are in keeping though. And the palm trees should be either mulberry or medlar.

Still, I could cope Grin

52andblue · 04/10/2020 15:06

Outside is better than in, (except the palm trees!)
but I still think its a lot of house for the money.
I'd be very happy there!

optimisticpessimist01 · 04/10/2020 15:13

@Annoyance

Love the house, don't love the trees.
I saw this comment before seeing the house and I thought "why on Earth would someone moan about trees Hmm" but I see what you mean! The second photo almost makes the house look American. Not a fan of the trees either!
Okokokitsout · 04/10/2020 15:16

Nah I don't like it. Way too much dark wood.

Laiste · 04/10/2020 15:17

No. The curtained off loo in the bedroom?! With white carpet??

It looks as if someone with a bit of cash and a passion for Harry Potter films bought it.

I'd rather spend the money on a smaller property which is genuinely from the period this one is trying to look as if it's from.

We're currently pulling fake black beams and black picture rails down off the ceiling in our dining room ...

ifiwasascent · 04/10/2020 15:23

It's amazing! Very cheap for that much space!

Leimarel · 04/10/2020 15:38

I don't like the curtained off toilet in the bedroom. It's quite near the coast so I'm guessing that's why they've got palm trees in the garden. It looks pretentious to me, the suit of armour is ridiculous.

FraughtwithGin · 04/10/2020 15:47

Not my cup of tea at all. I don't care for the leaded windows and there is something about the thatched roof that looks odd, I think the pitch, as if it wasn't originally thatched.
A couple of the photos taken at night make it look like a pub.
I am also not keen on very dark wood, but realise that is cosmetic.

user1494055864 · 04/10/2020 15:50

Ooh no, doesn't look at all haunted does it?!! Blush

Giggorata · 04/10/2020 15:56

I used to be very taken with it when I was young, but now I've seen the details, it's not the best example of an Arts and Craft house I've seen.
And its situation leaves a lot to be desired. Very built up area, close to a main road.

EggCups · 04/10/2020 15:56

My childhood home was in the same style and just by that one. Not quite as big though. Lovely house.
