2018 was a good year...

All about decluttering, and organisation, and saving the planet, and minimalism. I wish I could exit 2020 without saving and reload in 2018.

Which year would you zap back to?

OP posts:
yesiamyesiamokaycallmeback · 03/10/2020 22:01

2001
year 3
Egyptian topics at school
Best year of my life!

KnightsofColumbusThatHurt · 03/10/2020 22:05
  1. My DS was a toddler, the Olympics was brilliant (and the absolute worst thing in the news was that the Olympics might not be ready on time!), my career was great and I just felt really content.

2016 was when it all started to go to shit, both personally and on an international level, and it's just got worse from there!

GinandGobbledegook · 03/10/2020 22:05

In a personal level 2004. I left school and would love the chance to do a few things again differently.

In terms of national mood, 2012. The Olympics and the Jubilee meant everyone was in good spirits. There was lots to look forward to. There was a buzz in the air.

Theworldisfullofgs · 03/10/2020 22:06

I agree since 2016 all going to shut.

Theworldisfullofgs · 03/10/2020 22:07

So shit I can't even spell shit anymore.

Poppingpenguins · 03/10/2020 22:08

Or failing that 2012

Divebar · 03/10/2020 22:09
  1. I was at University in the US. The exchange rate was $2 to the £1 and I was on a full grant. I was out every night. EVERY NIGHT. 😍
Lindy2 · 03/10/2020 22:10

2012 was great. The Olympics gave everyone a huge buzz, I had a 4 year old and 1 year old so no school or homework stress. Life was good. I'd very happily go back to that year.

optimisticpessimist01 · 03/10/2020 22:12
  1. The Olympics was the cherry on top of the cake but it was the best year for other reasons too. It was the year I turned 18, went on a girls holiday, went to Orlando, Florida, and went to University. I wasn't dating anyone at the time I just spent all my time and energy seeing friends and family and having fun. 2012 was undoubtedly the best, most fun year of my life and I would go back to that year in a heartbeat if I could
TheId · 03/10/2020 22:24

Another vote for 2012

2012 was the year before my mum was diagnosed with the recurrence of her cancer. When I still thought she was cured and everything would be OK.

TheId · 03/10/2020 22:27

I enjoyed 1997 too
Labour landslide felt like a brave new dawn. It was the first election I'd voted in and I felt like I was being listened too!
Fun year at uni too

RiseoftheSeahorse · 03/10/2020 22:28

2018 was the best year of my life

merryhouse · 03/10/2020 22:32

I had a fab group of friends and a great relationship and was just about getting to grips with university work, and it really felt like the world was the mollusc of my choice.

1997 - politics was getting more caring, there was hope of peace over Northern Ireland and an end to the fear of terrorist attacks, I was learning to live without my mother, and I was getting closer to finding a decent job.

Otherwise, 2012 for all the reasons above, and 2015 for the same reasons people 100 years ago would have said 1913...

firstimemamma · 03/10/2020 22:35

2018 was the best year of my life hands down. Getting engaged in Paris and becoming a mum. Take me back now!

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 03/10/2020 22:35

2012 just finished second year of uni shad made firm friends and properly settled in. Olympics and jubilee

2007 or 2009/ 10 in that had some fab holidays and there was no exam pressure but started feeling more grown up and being treated like one too.

PuppyMonkey · 03/10/2020 22:35

I'm fairly old and have had lots of good years in the past but I have to agree with you, OP, I think back to 2018 and like the way life was for me then. Have been looking at pix on phone today and thinking how happy I was then. Good summer too, which always helps.

Fuftyfuff · 03/10/2020 22:42

Any year pre 2016. I cried all day the day of the referendum result, and things have been on a downward slope since 😭

amieejust · 03/10/2020 22:44

2014 was an excellent year for me.

2018 was mainly good too.

2002, 2004 and 2007 were all good as well.

StealthPolarBear · 03/10/2020 22:50
  1. Pre Brexit and obv pre covid. Children old enough to not need bum wiping but young enough to still be my babies. Andlooking back I was so thin :(

I feel old reading some if these. Although very young compared to others I suppose.

MsAwesomeDragon · 03/10/2020 22:57

September 1997. I'd finished my A Levels (ballsed them up somewhat, oops) and was just setting off on my gap year (six months) in India. I had the most amazing time!! I enjoyed 1998 too as I was still traveling.

I really enjoyed those carefree years before DC, before uni, career, marriage, etc.

Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 03/10/2020 22:58

Everything after 2000 up till 2016 (June) was pretty good, Tory psychodramas notwithstanding.

klinghoffer · 03/10/2020 23:02

Any time during my childhood, and then:
2012
2015
or
2018
