What’s going on with NEXT?

Anyone finding it so much harder to find children’s clothes in Next? The stores don’t seem to stock many sizes, and online seem to either be out of stock or delivery times of 6 weeks plus. I KNOW there’s a pandemic going on! But other shops don’t seem to be having these problems. And I can(and have been) buying elsewhere, but I do like Next kids clothes, my DD is really fussy and they normally have a good range of soft stretchy trousers and soft tops that she likes. Maybe I’ve just been unlucky in what I’ve been looking for. I’m not trying to slate them, I get how hard the situation is and I’d like to keep shopping there, just wondered if anyone else had had a similar experience or whether it’s just me?! Mothercare and NEXT were my go-to places for the basics, with MC gone and Next struggling I’m worried!

Have had issues too. Dd needed a plain sweatshirt for PE, couldn’t get one in her size or any size close to her size, have found the same with many items even items that are in their new catalogue and have only been out a week or so.

MC are going to be in Boots soon 😃 so keep an eye on their website

That’s made my morning!

Thanks for the replies!

Candyfloss99. As I said in my OP I know it’s because of the pandemic, I just wondered why NEXT seemed more affected than anywhere else, perhaps this is just my perception though.

Agree next are terrible at the moment.

Find someone online... no size available (or 6 week lead time!). Who wants to order something and then wait 6 weeks?! That's not the way the world works these days.

ImSleepingBeauty · 03/10/2020 09:06

Not sure what’s going on with them but I had an awful experience in our one. It’s a 2 floor out of town large one and I went for the first time recently.
There were so many staff standing around. The one way system was really confusing and they were barking orders at people.
There was hardly any stock out and hardly any customers so I felt like they were watching me the whole time.
I wasn’t even sure if I should touch the clothes to look for other sizes. The changing rooms had yellow hazard tape across them and I couldn’t wait to get out.
I had a look online for trousers for my boy and the delivery time was 6 weeks. I brought them elsewhere.

CountessFrog · 03/10/2020 09:07

This is generally my experience of being in shops when they aren’t busy.

I’ve seen the staff barking orders at people when other staff were huddled together chatting with face masks under their chins.

I ordered DS coat and it was delivered into store in two days. The stock in the store wasn’t the best, which is why I order from them online.

A Mothercare range has just been released and is sold at boots.

Tiredmummy2014 · 03/10/2020 10:09

@guitarstrings it's Mothercare

Tiredmummy2014 · 03/10/2020 10:09

@RoseGoldEagle your welcome 😊

MrsMariaReynolds · 03/10/2020 11:07

I ordered several summery items from Next during the height of the lockdown in May(their online site was operation by this point) only to have the parcel go "missing" after waiting 8 weeks (they fully blamed their courier service for losing a bunch of items in shipment). In fairness to them, they did fully refund me for everything, but I haven't been back inside a Next store since.

Atthecopacorona · 03/10/2020 15:29

And for the person saying it could be about credit. I can assure you that next is not struggling in the slightest. Just marginally down on profit from this time last year when there was no pandemic. It's all about supply and actually people working from home isn't helping either.

H1978 · 03/10/2020 16:40

There’s something not right. I’ve been shopping with them fir years and their service has always been excellent. I was charged fir an item that hadn’t arrived for pickup in store and I had to write and let them know myself as my account balance needed paying.

I’ve got another item waiting to come and they’ve informed me it was packed on the 21st September but still hasn’t been shipped. Now I’m worried it going to go missing somewhere in the warehouse.

Usernamealreadyexists · 03/10/2020 17:19

Yep Next is a bit of a mess. I went in September for school uniform and they said it’s in the store room and not on the shop floor to make way for new clothing (this was a week before school). Very odd.
Just went now to but pj’s and they only had dressing gowns, loads of fluffy slippers and no pyjamas. Again, really odd.
Won’t be shopping there again.

Are you all deaf or ignorant. I have explained twice now. I get the information from the horse's mouth not some randomers on mumsnet. Of course things are different it's a Global pandemic and stuff comes in globally.
