How much to give at a virtual wedding

Can anyone please give a ballpark figure of how much to give to a couple hosting a virtual wedding? Cant attend in person because of Covid restrictions so it’ll be online.

What’s an appropriate amount, they’re requesting money? Neither are relatives, we’re friends and in the UK if that makes any difference.

So really you're asking, 'How much money shall I give my friends for their wedding present'?

I guess that depends on how close you are to them and how much you can afford.

Yes@WorraLiberty

Haven’t attended a wedding in quite a few years and was wondering what a ballpark figure is these days.

If we are close enough to be day guests we usually give a present of around £100, if we are only close enough to be evening guests we would get them a present to the value of about £50/£60 but as previous poster said this so really just the same as determining how close you are to the couple.

If it's a virtual wedding you could send them a picture of a toaster ...

Hahaha! Hmm we do between 80-150, depending on who!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 01/10/2020 18:19

I’d give £50-
Although I did attend a wedding of a not particularly close friend and gave £30- tbh what you can afford should play a part too, don’t feel obligated

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 01/10/2020 18:24

We usually go with £40, that's fairly average of the gifts we got at our wedding from guests. But I have to say that guests that lived in England gave more, £60 on average, funny that! We're in Scotland

@Wormwoodgal

Haha!! That’s a good idea🤔

If family or mine/DH best friend £150

All other weddings £50

It’s only a virtual wedding presumably because of Covid, so I’d chuck an extra £10 in as I feel sorry for anyone getting married in current times-it’s bloody rubbish.

movingonup20 · 01/10/2020 19:15

£50 unless very close family/friend. I would feel bad for them so send a card with a thoughtful message

HolyForkinShirt · 01/10/2020 19:49

£50 - £100 depending on closeness of the person to me

Notanapplelover · 01/10/2020 19:55

Nothing. The couple are cheeky to ask! Or, as already suggested, send them picture of a toaster.

SodaPerson · 01/10/2020 20:05

I'd give £50. Anything less seems cheap for a wedding.

Hie2021 · 01/10/2020 20:33

Ok thanks all, that’s good to get a range of answers ...minimum of at least £50 then.

Good idea about getting a card.

At my wedding 2 years ago most people gave £50

18eggs · 01/10/2020 20:41

Blimey the average at our wedding was £20 and we had paid for everyone’s hotel rooms! Shock
